I'm trying to read the text of an instant message received through Microsoft Office Communicator, but WinGetText and ControlGetText don't return anything. Window Spy doesn't see the text anywhere, either. The message box is a sort of text-window where you can highlight and copy the text, if that makes any difference.

Any ideas, or has someone done this before? Thanks so much for your help!

So I take it that COM link in your sig is the right place to start? I know nothing about it but am willing to put in the effort if it's possible to do within AHK.

Thanks!

while the link in my sig is a good place to start its important to know that without use of an ole viewer it will not help. you will need to be able to view methods available and look at the communicator documentation it will not be simple it may even be easier to write soemthing in c#
bottom line you will indeed be developing some advanced skills to pull this off with ahk but yess it is do able
