Of late, I have been playing a lot of Dwarf Fortress by Bay 12 Games;
I like it so well, I've even updated my signature to point to it (see below).

I'm wondering...
What is the most intriguing game YOU'VE ever played?

Rubies of Eventide is offline until further notice. There have been many questions as to why we decided to shut the service down and what the on-going status of the game is...

Oh i've got to say unreal world

it's a game by finnish publisher
<!-- m -->http://www.jmp.fi/~smaarane/urw.html<!-- m -->

and it's basically a turn based iron age freeroam game where you can either roam the land or settle down as a family-guy or a hunter! (ofc there's more in to it)

Very addictive because you want to reach just one more level <!-- m -->http://en.wikipedia....Warning_Forever<!-- m --> the name indicates how long I've played it :oops: it gets you into a zen like state after a while. :shock:

Any other suggestions?

Most of my favorites are old school (REALLY old school);
Chromatron (2004-ish)
-- Pretty new, but the author recently made the 2nd, 3rd and 4th installments free for download

The Wizard's Castle (late 1970's - early 1980's)
-- Likely to forever be my all-time favorite

Zork I, II and III (1980-1982)
-- Way more hours of gameplay than you might expect[edit] Links to these are upstairs.

Hey, off the wall but this seems like a great thread to ask this,

Does anyone know where I can find the flash or w/e version of that 'dark tower' board game from the 80's? I had it once and it vanished

Remember that? It had a rotating tower in the middle and was RPG style, like settlers or shogun...

:?:

:D great thread <3 ZORK, muds forever

someone should rewrite DIKU in ahk :D

That's a great version of Dark Tower, way better than the one I saw before.

DTD is great, I also like this one

Chromatron, mentioned above, is now available as an Android app;
Only Chromatron 1 - 3 are included, but that's still 150 levels;
Not sure why Chromatron 4 wasn't included in the package.

I have played StarWish over 5 times now. That is a rare thing for me. I lose most interest in games before I even finish them (I have a short attention span). By far my favorite flash game. And even high on my all-time chart for any game/system.
Over 10 hours of gameplay, easily. Play on hard mode, it's still pretty easy.

Very professional flash game: Starwish.
Here is all the media of the game. cutscenes+music player+other
Warning: possibly a long load time.
[*:11r75407]Good RPG side scrolling space SHMUP shooter. (is that a new genre? :lol:)
[*:11r75407]Good quality (anime) character graphics.
[*:11r75407]Hand painted backgrounds.
[*:11r75407]Great custom soundtrack.
[*:11r75407]Plenty of dialog. (skipable too, unlike most games)
[*:11r75407]Fun characters.
[*:11r75407]Fast leveling.
other stuff.

Armagetron is another goody (that I haven't played in a while). It kept my attention for atleast 4 years, then a couple years ago it seems a bunch of kids rushed in and ruined the nice relaxed friendly environment. But it might be worth a try for new users.

I have spent hundreds of hours playing n:
<!-- m -->http://www.metanetsoftware.com/<!-- m -->
<!-- m -->http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/<!-- m -->
<!-- m -->http://www.thewayoft..._downloads.html<!-- m -->
An amazingly simple game for how challenging it can be. Some of the levels can take days to figure out. I have played it almost daily for 4 years now and still haven't beaten it. :D
