jak68 recommended txmouse for this purpose (copying by only selecting text with the mouse, no ctrl+c is needed) which works really great:

I was surprised such an utility exists. Does anyone by chance know other such tools, so that their capabilites could be compared?
Copy-on-select alternatives

The reason I ask for alternatives, because txmouse overrides middle click behavior in the browser.
I'm currently undecided which feature is more useful. I definitely paste more than click with the middle button, so txmouse may be the winner, but an alternative tool could change the landscape.
Or someone could implement it in AHK and make it confgurable.

It would take me a while to get used to such a program, since I often doubleclick stuff out of habit. To select text, for no reason at all. Would prolly be possible to implement something nice in AHK though. Interesting idea. Thanks for sharing AutoClipX. The AHK implementation was also nice.
