This isn't an AHK question, but a Q all the same. I have some programs that even when set to maximum volume are still barely audible. I'd like to make them louder. Don't tell me to buy new speakers, mine are fine  other programs can get really loud. Don't tell me I'll blow my speakers, because I don't with other programs much louder than it.
Any ideas on how to double maximum volume from volume control or something?

... I was looking for a utility or application which would do so; it made sense at the time ~nimda
... In fact, there are multiple utilities/apps listed in this thread

I have similar issues and I use a nice set of decently high quality headphones (Logitech G930).
I have Winamp running at 3% volume, ventrilo running at 120% (estimated, between windows setting at 100% and ventrilo's built in mixer cranked up), and I run Netflix via chrome at around 70% Windows master volume stays at ~85%. Most games I play I run at 10-15% volume.
I have not found a way to boost any low volume applications other than the Win7 mixer

I have even noticed that some music files (e.g., mp3) can have different min/max volumes. I wind up using Audacity to make extra loud/soft versions of songs before I put the on my phone.

this will not solve your program sounds, but it is a much easier and quicker way to normalize (boost or silence) the *.mp3 files:

vlc.exe allows set volume to 200%
