(AFA = Away From AutoHotkey)

This is the official thread where you can announce that you are taking a break or leaving the AHK community. I'm starting this because a lot of regulars have been disappearing with little or no notification.

Weather you are a new user or an old timer everyone knows, it would be nice to hear if you are leaving. Give as little or as much info as you please. I have provided a simple template below, if you want to use it.
If you are mainly a Guest but have a user-name, You could post your user-name.
Alternatively, this thread can be used to announce that you are back from a break. Don't be afraid to bump this topic and let us know!

Username(s):
Duration:
Reason:

Please be respectful to those leaving and coming back.

:(

But thank you, tidbit, for allowing people to announce they are leaving or coming back. This forum would never function without your wisdom or intervention.

I'm glad that you, once again, stepped up to the plate, swung the bat and aimed for the fence. I'm a better person for knowing you (even if only on the forums), and even better still for learning from your genius.

MAY THE COMMUNITY TAKE NOTICE OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS!!!!!!!!!

Reason: Left Windows

I have left AutoHotkey since about a year or so. I am coming back from time to time; mainly because I get email notifications for replies of any subscribed threads. Or, sometimes I am just bored. Some other times, I am really interested in a topic. I have no use for AHK anymore and IronAHK is not ready yet. I do not think that I will come back soon. I want thank you all again. Can't say it enough, how great the community works at this place. Good members, good developers, good stuff. 8)

Same as Tuncay - I moved to LInux and Iron AHK looks dead. I think the project tried to do too much. Why make a version that would work on all platforms - sounds too much work and there is already 3 versions that work on Windows! Better to have just concentrated on a seperate version for Linux and a separate version for MAC

Reason: Broken Win9x support

I'm back to say I'm gone. Lately, got neither feedback nor help when needed, contrary to the motto that still holds, ironically, at the top of each page: "Let's help each other out". My favorite OS has always been seen as a laughing stock or plague around here, although I've proven in many occasions that it can do much more than others would think.

Similarly to Tuncay, I may be back from time to time, mainly upon a reply notification or private message, since most newer scripts have nothing in common anymore with original AHK and therefore present no interest to me whatsoever.

Privately, I'll keep using original AHK under my Win98SE, to build any tools I may feel the need for. I will also keep updating any of my already posted scripts (at the autohotkey.net repository, see signature) when necessary, however they will either be already compiled (as is the case with MyDiary and WASP) or strictly compatible with AHK Classic (ANSI only).

Thank you Chris Mallett for all the work with AutoHotkey!
Thank you everybody whose code I've used within my own scripts!
Thank you everybody who provided feedback!

Reason: Tired of the nonsense around guest accounts I freaking give up

if this community wants to make the main focus of preventing guest posts which has no basis in realistically solving the actual problem then i have no place here. better to go to auto-it where everyone is just an out right jackass to start with

Reason: Hostility of Guests and Members toward eachother over NOTHING!

Honestly, I read the forums nearly every day (and will probably continue to), but I stopped posting long ago due to the hostility I was receiving in return for my attempts at helping people. I may not always be the nicest person in a forum post, but even if a person that is helping someone is a little curt in their reply, that doesn't justify unbridled hostility from the person being helped, or other helpers in the same thread.

I will, however, remain on IRC :D

@tank, @elesar... :(

It saddens me to see it affected you to the extend that you feel the need to pause out. It also feels like maybe this topic risks making the "choice" a bit hasty to make. Regardless, I hope you will feel better soon, and I'd be glad for the sticking along in the IRC-chat, S&F or otherwise!

See ya around :)

I think everyone needs to calm down. There's been a lot of turmoil lately, with Guests saying other Guests shouldn't be allowed to post, punx's shooting-aid script, and Chris' sudden reappearance and offer of the whole site to anyone willing and able to do a good job.
IMO, this thread isn't helping. While it was good-intentioned, spawned from the discussion about the disappearance of Sean and others, it's giving people a very distructive way to vent their frustrations over aforementioned turmoil. Seeing a way to say goodbye is a great incentive to say "I quit"... and that is not what we want ;)

You put words to my thoughts! Or, 'couldn't have said it better myself'. Also, humor is always nice :D
