Well it looks like they have done exactly that! Some community this is! Not sure how they can justify doing so, but they did. If a nick is not choosen and someone whats to register with it, then they should be able to! So does that mean that when a new user registers and I want their nick, that I can CRY about it till I get my way?! And to beastmaster saying that BoBo has been here since the begining, SO WHAT! Most of his post are just to talk sh** to new users and to say "thats a pointless subject line", "rtfm", or the one I like most "use a nick besides Guest" what does it matter what name they use, hell he isnt even registered! At least when I come to the forum, Im here to try and help people, very rarely do I see BoBo doing that! And on my registered name, to be a top 50 poster within a year, but oh well! Not sure how I look at this community anymore! To take the REGISTERED nick away when it was used for no harm, only to prove a point!

But question remains:

Who killed BoBo

• Was that BoBo, himself?
• Was that BoBo
• Was it Zippo() ? Zippo() the murderer ? ..... m.... hm... wel, he is surely capable, but he is just not that smart to hide so well (espepecially was not smart to get additected to my Midol pills)
• Moderators ... hm.... no motive. BoBo makes bad n00bs go away, thus making their job smaller.
• Was it.... oh no

I suppose in deference to the community. Clearly a number of community members thought it valuable that BoBo be able to retain his well-established identity.


If it's already your established identity I suspect tears wouldn't be necessary. There aren't many that are in a situation like BoBo (a frequent contributor who cannot login to a registered account from work), but if you were one of those I suspect you'd probably get the same treatment.


Most is a bit of an exaggeration. I may not like his feedback at times, but you and I can attribute all of that and his positive contributions due to his well-established identity.


I was willing to believe you didn't understand why initially, but clearly you understand why not by now, right? He couldn't register "BoBo" because once he did he couldn't post under that nick without being logged in. It's not that hard to understand.


No one's devalued your identity and your contribution - though since we don't know who you're really known as we just have to take your word for it now. It's the perhaps hasty and deliberate attempt to terminate the BoBo identity that some of us don't appreciate.


I'm not sure what your point was. And whatever it was, it's proven now, right?

This is an extremely partial and biased point of view...

1) I don't think that educating people on good practices of the forum is useless. It is still helping them, as well as us. And I occasionally do the same. Perhaps more tact could be used, but basically it is relevant.

2) That's not "most of his post". He (try to) helps at least as most as the regular users, providing pointers to manual, writing code snippets or even full scripts.

3) He also contributed a lot in the Utilities & Resources section.

He is a good support of the community and as such, I believe he deserves to have a special status (not that I have any power in the field, I just concur).
