I got these three irritating buttons on my keyboard:

Wake (vkFFsc163)
Sleep (vk5Fsc15F)
Power (vkFFsc15E)

I want to disable them or remap them. At least I don't want my computer going in standby when I hit the Sleep button.

This is the script I tried for this:

In the 'Script lines most recently executed' Returns do appear when a button is used, but it's native function is also executed (my computer goes in standby for example).

Is there any way to block it's native function and use it for anything?

Remove all the screws from the back of the keyboard and remove the back panel. Inside you should find 3 sheets of plastic with little gray dots connected by little gray lines (on most keyboards ). Locate the little dots that correspond to the buttons you want to disable and place a piece of scotch tape between any 2 plastic sheets at that gray dot. Return the back of the keyboard to its original position and put the screws back in.

Are you saying the buttons can not be remapped? It's native function can not be blocked with software?

I have the same question as OP.

I know that Windows lets you "disable" them in Power options, but
1. sometimes power options get reset (a Windows bug, I think).
2. I think they're still doing something even when disabled there

If I could remap them with Autohotkey it would be great. Also if Autohotkey could take them over completely.

But I wonder if there are some signals that bypass the OS when you press them..

After it's disabled, it probably still registers a hardware keypress or something somewhere
