Is the forum indispensable for Autohotkey learning?
Yes, it is essential. Without it you couldn't progress.
No. But, without forum, learning would be 10 times slower.
No, I learnt Autohotkey without any forum, just using program's help.
There are other ways to learn, than program's help or this forum.
Other.

Is it possible to learn Autohotkey program, at a productive and not frustrating way, without the help of you, forum people? Or there is great chances to get blocked, and forget this program?

The habitual Autohotkey script creators needed the help of some other people?
How did you learnt?

Of course, the help of Autohotkey is beautiful, but I sometimes don't know what to look for in it to solve my doubts.

Thanks

I used AHK for quite awhile without the forum.
infact, every language I try I don't use a forum until I have basic/pretty good knowledge.

only when I start a big project and get stuck on a fairly complex thing, then I find a community.
Documentation is all I need. With syntax details and examples.
Forums are a last resort after hours of failing.

PS: And I still suck at programming in any language. I just keep trying even if I know it'll fail. That way if you fix it, you learned yourself! much more rewarding then begging others.

I actually learned most of my AHK knowledge by trying to help others in the forum. I am not good at coming up with ideas for things to write, but the ask for help section is always full of simple and not-so-simple problems that need solving. I enjoy figuring it out, and have just gone from there.

As I result, I am now the #2 poster in the forum, and a moderator, so it has paid off.

There is also quite a bit you can learn reading the scripts and functions section, but I just don't have time to do that /and/ Ask For Help, so i tend only to go there when i get a result from the search function that looks interesting.

I wouldn't say the Forum is indispensable, but it is helpful. I learned to use AHK by trial and error, but used the Forum extensively as a reference. I think I've used 'Ask for Help' twice since I joined in 2006, and one of those times was not directly related to AHK. The benefit for me is the broad spectrum of scripts available here that can be used as tools for learning. Once I've racked my brain for a while, I'll turn to the Forums to see if I can find snippets that will lead me through the gauntlet and get me back on track.

Hope that gives you some food for thought.

Working and learning with any kind of tool is made a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable when people help each other.

AHK wouldn't be half as valuable as it is without this forum.

And, IMO, AHK is probably the single most valuable tool I've ever used and could ever imagine. It's great.

The only complaint I have is that AHK isn't nearly as popular and widely used as it should be. But this forum goes a long way towards helping with that. It can make people feel welcome and help them understand why AHK is as valuable as it is.

I really would be stuck without this forum. I do not program with it frequently, but over the past few years, I have gotten together some very useful things for me.

Invariably, I get stuck when trying to work out a problem. It is quite useful for me to be able to post a "why doesn't this work" or "where did I go wrong" kind of question, and then look at the answers that the kindly and intelligent forum members post.

This gives me the perfect opportunity to thank all you kind folks for helping me, and Chris and the site administrators for maintaining this wonderful resource.

My kudos to you all!
