Hello -

I am using a Canon Powershot camera connected to the pc for cctv purposes. The camera can take a snapshot when the F1 hotkey is activated (or when the 'shutter' button is pressed with the mouse).

When the pixels in the live viewfinder window changes (in other words when somebody or something moves in the camera scene) I want to take a snapshot automatically by activating the hot key!

If this can be achieved I would not need to set the camera to take pictures every 5 seconds, which might wear out the shutter, but can get the camera to fire only when there is motion in the camera scene!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You could try PixelGetColor but I'm not really sure how clear your picture is. I mean, if there's some sort of constant static, it'll keep detecting it, and take shots.

But if your picture is crystal clear and absolutely still, then maybe it'll work.

many thanks for your reply.

I do not know if that program can activate automatically a hotkey registered to another open program.

The pixels in the live image viewfinder window are always slightly changing but if there is a way of activating the hotkey F1 or triggering a mouse event each time the pixels change, please let me know.

There may be a way of adjusting the percentage change once I get the basic macro script.
