Sorry I missed that, spent half an hour trying to figure out what's wrong ant it never occurred to me that I actually wrote the path....


Thank You for this amazing app it's such a a time saver!

I'm trying to get used to Total Commander atm, but the first thing I noticed is that trying to open a directory with Folder Menu inside Total Commander (menu 2) always opens the directory on the left pane and not on the current active pane.

Are there any settings to change this behaviour to open a directory always in the current active pane (it works with menu 1.5 but the same behaviour would be nice for the menu 2 especially when Total Commander is already running)?

show menu 2 always open a new explorer.
do you use totalcmd as your default file manager?
if so, i just run the command "totalcmd.exe [path]"

or do you mean show menu 1
for show menu 1, you have to left click on the panel to activate it first. middle click will not activate the panel.

No, I don't use menu 1 at all.

Menu 1.5 (Total Commander is already running) opens a path in the active pane. That's fine.
Menu 2 opens Total Commander and the path in the left pane (when TC hasn't been started before). That's fine, too.
But when TC is already running Menu 2 always still opens the path in the left pane, not in the active one.
Could this behaviour be modified so that it works like menu 1.5 if TC is already running?

Because show menu 2 is used to open a new explorer, so everytime you select an item, the path will be opened in a new explorer(or your file manager).
So when you click an item, "C:" for example, it just run
"d:\Users\Highend\Tools\TotalCMD\TOTALCMD.EXE C:"
it works like you type this line in cmd or run box.
It just pass the parameter (the path) to your file manager(TC).
So the behavior depends on your file manager, you can use some command line switch to change the behavior, if there's one.
menu 1.5 is a combination of 1 and 2, it works like 1 when a supported window(TC) is active, and run a new explorer otherwise, like 2.

That's weird. I did a little researching with Wireshark and there is traffic causing Folder Menu to slow down. FM is trying to query the Net Bios Names from my links and after the timeout FM is ready (causing FM to load very slow). I tried it on 2 systems XP and Vista.
Do you have any idea why this is happening?

I still can not make this problem on my computer.
I'm using win 7, and also tested in winxp in virtualpc.
I also tried both ip and host name for unc path.
what's your unc path that causing it to make a query?

According to wireshark all names are queried, e.g. \\k****.co.at, \\excelsior, \\enterprise, \\n060b380, ...

Great application, I think I found a bug in v2.06 though.

If I blank out "Options > Others > File Manager Path" and Apply/Okay out, everything works fine. However once I close and then restart (or even just reload) Folder Menu 2 it starts acting like "explore" is listed again.

When this happens if I go back into the Options I see explore is indeed set. Interstingly I've watched the Config.xml file, and the "explore" value doesn't actually get written unless I hit Apply or Okay.

So it seems like the FileManager value isn't being read correclty when the application starts, and since FM2 thinks it isn't set it's using the default value (explore).

This is probably also why you see it in the Configuration screen, even though the XML file show something else (presumably all these settings are read from Config.xml on start, stored as local variables, and then the configuration screen is populated with local variable values).

I still can not find the problem..


Oh! I finally got the problem.
Because if a setting is blank, it will return the default value, "explore" in this for example.
So please use "open" instead.

When trying to open any website including your's even the "new Version is available would you like to go to the Site?" dialog does this

And the link doesnt work as you could imagine, is this a setting I have screwed up?

What's your "Browser path" setting in options others tab?
And your OS?

Ok, I was using Folder Menu as tool to choose between several favorite paths in Open/Save dialog. Now with new version (2.07) I can't use Folder Menu as a tool for doing that with UNC paths, but it stills works with local and mapped network drives.

example 1:
if my favorite path is: \\computer\share1\
after choosing it with Folder Menu while in Open/Save dialog, Folder Menu will open explorer window with this path - this in NOT GOOD any more

example 2:
if my favorite path is: C:\\share1\
after choosing it in Open/Save dialog, Folder Menu will open that path in Open/Save dialog - this in GOOD

How can I make Folder Menu open UNC paths inside Open/Save dialogs, like it did before?

I'm using WIN XP SP3
