I use Autohotkey to perform commands that I execute from Thunderbird Firefox custom toolbar. Like forwarding with auto-filled "To" fields etc.

If I click on a button then it takes around 3 seconds before the exe is running, while if I use the button at a later stage again then it loads immediately.

If I re-start Thunderbird, then once again the first time is with a delay and the second time its going faster.

Using ahk is not allowed in the Thunderbird extension.

Any idea why?

That sounds more like a Windows issue with prefetch than an AHK issue.
