I finally got Winspector Spy, thanks to SKAN. I'm following the instructions on here http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/SendMessage.htm to get the message for the pause/player button, but it doesn't seem to be picking anything up. >.<

I'd be happy if someone could give me the message code or whatever, but "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I'd be more than happy if you taught me how. :)

Thanks to any helpers.

In most media players the space bar is used to toggle play/pause. have you tried this yet? maybe a simpler approuch..

Something like this

Code:
ControlSend, WMPAppHost1, {Space}, Windows Media Player

Ahh, in VLC it is space and in most others. But WMP unfortunately does not. The play button has to be highlighted and have focus in order for space to work. I've tried that a while back.

Ok, don't want 2 b 2 basic here, but, have you tried this:

Code:
SendInput, {Media_Play_Pause}

Or if you that's not want that, you could check this fantastic thread by jballi and try some of the messages he found:

http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic8566.html&highlight=full+screen+media+player

Hope that helped!

Cheers!

But that still doesn't help the whole "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." factor. :(

I've been wanting to learn how to get the postmessages of stuff. I tried following that tutorial by jaco but it didn't work or I didn't get it. Lolz.

The simplest way:

Step 1:
There are two scripts posted in Get Info from Context Menu by Micha
Copy/Paste and run the 2nd Script.

Step 2:
Run/Focus your app and Select a Bar in Menu and hover over an item. I repeat.. just hover over the menu item.. do not click it.

That is it. You will have a tooltip displayed @ 0,0 coordinates that will show the wParam values for WM_Command.

This will work for the Tray menu too..
