Not even sure they are the same... I see somebody posting with BoBo² in the Utilities forum. (mmm, that's an old post, resurrected by somebody - I haven't followed the recent history of BoBos, I fear.)

A 'bogeyman'

Bogeyman is its historical meaning. But ...Today Mumpitz is urban slang for Rubbish!. Eg a result of dubbing US movies to German: now and then "Bullshit" is translated to "Mumpitz"
