I played around a little with adding the gui to another window, e.g. Calculator and it works to a certain extent too - it's a pity this method can't be used to put a button in the titlebar of an application, as it's so simple.

This last script allows me to simplify a few of my scripts, which put all kind of stuff in the taskbar with the help of a timer constantly reactivating them. Thanks!

I can't believe it works. I remember experimenting with the calls, reordering statements, and finally, got something to work.

The only apparent limitation is the inability to reserve space in the target window. I have some ideas to test, but nothing to report yet.

I have my taskbar on the left side. Showing the clock reserves 3 lines on the bottom. I added my own clock/calendar in one line, freeing the other two. Manually moving the border below the quick lunch icons leaves room above. You can cover some quick lunch icons, too, as long as the arrow remains visible in the bottom. It shows all the quick start shortcuts in a list.

You should post that script. It demonstrates a practical use for this method.

just gimme a couple of days to change my settimer/winactivate method to your setparent one, which is much smoother.

The script does not work on Win7 and Vista if the Gui is Transparent. There needs to be made a workaround, which has been discussed in this thread:

and put into practice here:
