A command to change the mouse cursor to a desired shape (i.e. hand, hourglass) has been requested many times in the past: a search of the Wish List forum produced one from 2004!

There are workaround scripts to simulate hyperlinks etc. using DLLCall; but Chris has posted several times over the years that a SetCursor command is a high priority.

Is this a particularly difficult feature or simply one that's waiting to be implemented in AHK v2?

Sorry if I sound a bit impatient... I've been wanting this for a while. AHK has been improved so much that I'm surprised this was overlooked.

P.S. I've seen a couple recent requests for this in the Help forum, which prompted me to post this; so I'm not the only one eager for this feature!

This can be done as stdlib function.

I like the idea of feedbacking different states in applications via cursor-changes. So you can have for each application and its states different sets of cursors and represent those state changes nicely, in real-time, via cursor changes. In this case colored text would do it also. But having additional image support makes it even more flexible. So depending on the scenario you can go more textual-feedback at cursor, or image-feedback at cursor.
