does anybody have any ideas for programs to make or "apps" that people might think "oo, that sounds interesting" and download?

also does anybody know of a site that I can use to host my files, that doesn't have too many adverts etc on it?

In an attempt to clarify:

I wish to create a site ( not nessacarily my own domain) that has a list of different applications (as in small programs) which can be clicked on and downloaded to be used. The applications will mostly or entirely be created using autohotkey language and anything I use I will seek approval from the creator for. Examples of some simple applications I could put up for people to use are things like stopclocks, a hotkey making/organising program (an actual program as aposed to scripting it theirselves like AHK) and screen locking applications (useful to the average Joe in the workplace).

By doing this I wish to achieve several things:
1) Increased traffic to and awareness of AutoHotKey (I will credit AHK on my page, allowing new users to discover it) and allow people to propose app suggestions to me through the site, further increasing the chance they'll hang about and get interested.

2) The ability to share my and other's creations with the public, allowing them to improve their computer and add useful "apps" to it, allowing them to use it for things they couldn't before (for example, most computers don't have stopclocks and this saves them from wading through google results often if they frequently need one).

3) Be a free "non"-profit organisation. (All programs, "apps" scripts etc will be free, there will be no membership fee or no need to create an account, these things create hassle for the user and make them unlikely to re-visit so I've cut them out altogether. Any revenue produced through non-invasive advert use that I am considering using, will be put to a good cause that I am currently working on setting up involving tree planting and environment improvement).

4) To be simple to the user. The site will be based on the list of easily accessible links , directing the user to download the program they want.

5) Finally, to be interesting. I want to make this appealing to the average computer user, I want to improve their experience and efficiency so that they make better use of their time. I want to provide things people actually want to use.

I have that intention for Appifyer.com - but with the addition that it comes with a simple way for users to hotkey & launch these apps without having to code a single line of code, aswell as instant installation.

Non-AHK apps will also be welcome, but I think AHK is a great way of making simple and useful apps so it's very AHK relevant. Appifyer is as many of you have noticed made in AHK, and shall be and remain open source if possible (cleaning up the source code atm and preparing for hosting at github).

Were you thinking of making the apps yourself, or just gathering up useful apps? Either way you are very welcome to contribute with ideas, code & apps to Appifyer, if you would like to. Appifyer is a constant-in-the-making project, and I have every intention of making it as awesome as possible with your help.

You can even start uploading apps already (1-exe apps only atm), even if I must admit that the categorizing and looks of the app pages can (and will!) be improved in the future. No ads, no cost.

Interesting site idea sumon, I like the colour scheme

I was thinking of making my own and gathering others, making as many of my own as possible though to avoid asking many people if I can use their work

I am not entirely sure of your goal, but I could recommend weebly as a host. The free version has no ads and unlimited bandwidth. Take a look at their terms and see if it will work for you.

Wouldn't hosting the apps on weebly violate number 8 on the quick list of sites that aren't allowed?
(I just noticed this as I was curious aswell).

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert by any means; I just try to help out where I can.

My weebly site has my scripts on it, granted they are actually hosted by mediafire, but that is just so I have download stats. Weebly gives you the ability to upload files, presumably this means you can have files on your site.

If in doubt contact them. Describe what you are planning and ask if it violates their terms. Hard to get answers if you don't ask questions.
