Please let me know what do you think about it
Make SmartGUI Creator's code available to a group of coders. I'm volunteering to be a part of this team!
Make SmartGUI Creator fully open source. Lets see where it gets from there. And I'll be helping in maintaining it!
Make SmartGUI Creator fully open source, just because, though I wouldn't be maintaining it. I just want to look at the code.
Leave it as it is, you're doing a fine job. Late updates don't affect me.

I second Lazlo except that I use a BFG gun and zap Rajat til things get done. A bit like bondage :P .

But unlike Lazylo, I will throw ideas in

What I fear is that SGUI might become obsolete or might die out given my lack of time ... while as a group effort and with varied ideas, many new features might get built into it...

The current SGUI that I've has lot more to play with but there are a few bugs to take care of as well... I'm not getting enough time to debug it.

untill now what I'm thinking is to use the hybrid option ... release source and a group reviews/makes changes... and whoever was in the favour of the first option in the poll will join the developer team...

I'd like to know more ideas in this regard, so please keep giving inputs

I voted option 1.
I am a beginner and currently in no postition to help, but I would prefer a group of coders working on it rather than Rajat trying all by himself.

I would like too see the code (or may be a brief guide/tutorial) just so it may improve my ahk scripting skills (this is my first programming language if I can call it that :).

However, so far you have done a wonderful job with you SGUI Rajat! :D

If there had been one, I would have voted on an option "Make SmartGUI Creator fully open source, to let other experts improve it, but I cannot contribute". If you want to be specific, you can add "because I am too lazy/busy/dumb/inexperienced/all of the above".

all of us wud've have definitely benefitted from your expertise if u'd been able to contribute... but I'll still come to pester u the day when we decide SGUI needs some hegh-level encryption!

I voted for option #2.
I would help maintaining as time permits. But since I'm not using it, it is not my highest priority and thus I don't think I would fit into the core dev-team. I would prefer if such a team would take care of the code and introduce code from others. So that there is an extra layer as an filter (for bugs, usefullness, consistency, dependencies)

BTW: I wonder how it is only 2500 lines. Doesn't sound much. Thank you Rajat for considering it to become open source.

Laszlo, I hope your`re not taking my comment for real?
I was simply joking and with no intention what so ever to do you harm or abuse you in any way and/or fashion.
If there is any implications on matters that differ from that, please accept my apology :(

I've learn't alot from reading your answers, comments and techniques. Indeed you have experience/talent more than most of us including myself.

What makes you think you have to apologize? I saw nothing personal or inappropriate. Don't be Paranoid (X)! We are just having fun here.

I guess it's about that diabolic "y". But I've missed "the joke" for some time.
Why? As lazy people in many (if not most) cases are the smarter ones (eg. to lazy to waste time, therefore use AHK to handle consecutive borings tasks) I've seen it as a compliment (thought about that ages ago, trying to find a excuse why it's smart to be lazy too).
Last time somebody called me "Hey yo there! D'ya here me? Come to my desk yo laszlodized Lazylo".
I turned around, smiled at her and started singing "Laszlo in the sky with diamonds ... lalalalala"

LOL!

I agree with BoBo.. the reason I code some of my scripts is that I want to do as less myself as possible

I've been reading up on GUI, and followed the SmartGUI link in the help file until I ended up here.

I am confused. Since this whole thread is so long, and you have made many updates to SmartGUI, where in the forum do I go to get the most current version so I can check it out? ( I'm thinking if I go to the "original" link from the AHK help file, I might get the "original" release :?: )

You can get the latest version here. It doesn't match the screenshot at the beginning of this topic (in case you were wondering). That version has not been released.
