CD2M3U is a small (2K) command line utility to scan CD-ROM`s
(or floppy disks,hard drives,local network connections,or any
removable media) to find MP3 files.
After scanning,CD2M3U automatically creates an M3U playlist file
in your TEMP directory and optionally plays the playlist if you
have an MP3 player application installed on your system.
Target OS: MS-DOS or compatibles, WINDOWS 9X/Me

Usage:

CD2M3U name_of_list drive_letter -play

Examples:

CD2M3U mymp3cd
CD2M3U mymp3cd e:
CD2M3U mymp3cd e:\audio
CD2M3U mymp3cd e:\audio -play

If you don`t specify drive letter then default drive selected (drive d:)
The optional -play parameter is useful if you want to play
the created list.(If you have an MP3 player installed on your system.)

Supported players under DOS:

-DSS (Digital Sound System)
-QV (Quickview)
-OCP (Open Cubic Player)
-MPXPLAY

Playing under Windows 9X/Me:

The -play works if you have a windows based MP3 player, which
supports playing M3U playlist files.(Winamp,etc...)

CD2M3U is freeware.Originally written in DOS BATCH,compiled
to executable with PC Magazine`s BAT2EXEC 1.5,
and compressed with UPX.

P.S.: CD2M3U is also useful for system supervisors to scan
local networks to find illegal MP3 files.

Might work with W2k/XP. Not yet tested.

The wiki says that M3U files are simple text files containing the link/path to a sound files destination. Based on that you can create such a tool easily with AHK. Have fun. 8)
