I just came across this gem:
Quote:
The kind of answers you get to your technical questions depends as much on the way you ask the questions as on the difficulty of developing the answer. This guide will teach you how to ask questions in a way more likely to get you a satisfactory answer.
You can find out here how to ask questions the smart way.

The authors of the page mentioned above ask anybody who provides a link to their pages to include the following:
Quote:
Disclaimer

Many project websites link to this document in their sections on how to get help. That's fine, it's the use we intended — but if you are a webmaster creating such a link for your project page, please display prominently near the link notice that we are not a help desk for your project!

We have learned the hard way that without such a notice, we will repeatedly be pestered by idiots who think having published this document makes it our job to solve all the world's technical problems.

If you're reading this document because you need help, and you walk away with the impression you can get it directly from the authors, you are one of the idiots in question. Don't ask us questions. We'll just ignore you. We are here to show you how to get help from people who actually know about the software or hardware you're dealing with, but 99% of the time that will not be us. Unless you know for certain that one of the authors is an expert on what you're dealing with, leave us alone and everybody will be happier.
(which is not a kind way of asking us not to ask them our questions, but it is clear)

So, happy reading, and keep on asking your questions in the smart way, and at the right place!

I've seen that link once at the AutoIt Forum - but unfortunately have lost it.
Whooopee, you made my day :D. Is there any way to force an idiot to read it

btw. That link should be added also to the initial sticky topic at the "Ask for Help"-Section !!!! 8)

If you count me as one, the answer is no. If I am desperate, frustrated and hopeless enough to ask a question from the tech support, the last thing I want to do is to spend another hour to read this document. If I don't have a question, I have no reason to read it. This document is written to help desk people, who don't want to deal with "lusers", and find it as a cure of their headaches. It only fascinates them and solves no real problem. The rest of us don't like to be referred to as idiots or loosers if we don't speak the same jargon as the hackers.

I'd say the majority of people on this forum don't need to read the guide as they already ask questions in a polite and concise manner. However, there are definitely a minority (as on all forums) who really should read a guide like this if they ever expect to get helpful answers here or anywhere else on the Net (why should anyone else spend time on their problem if they can't be bothered to?).

I disagree that it is a matter of understanding the jargon; it's a matter of coutesy to other forum users, etiquette/politeness and asking the question in a logical and complete fashion. A user may not do this because 1) They are new to forums, etc (in which case a guide like that will quickly get them up to speed). 2) They are impolite/lazy/ignorant - in which case they should read the guide or expect to be ignored just as you would likely ignore such a person on the street.

For fellows which are using a sloooooooow bandwith connection - a download might make sense
Code:
UrlDownloadToFile, http://67.19.215.37/albino_flash07/posting(www.albinoblacksheep.com).swf, PostingAndYou.swf
You might have to check if any copyright restrictions have to be followed. :!:

I like that tutorial (turn speakers on!).
And thx for sharing its link :D
