I have a permanent script, with lot of useful little hotkeys, and I run often other scripts, which doesn't necessarily exit when finished...
I wanted to distinguish my permanent script from the other on the systray.
I first added:
Menu Tray, Icon, %A_AhkPath%, 6
but I wasn't too happy with it...
So I searched and found back a nice logo made by AGermanUser aka AGU: Image
I liked the idea a lot, very suggestive...
It was first saw on his site (or another?) but I only found this topic, which is enough for my needs.

Anyway, I had to transform this to an icon.

I first made two images: Image (untouched) and Image (retouched, with transparency in the icon).
Then I resized them to the more standard 32x32 format: Image and Image
Then with SnIco Edit, I made two icon files with 32x32x24 32x32x8, 16x16x8 and 16x16x4 formats:
HOT!Key2.ico and HOT!Key.ico

Of course, use it with the following line:
Menu Tray, Icon, %A_ScriptDir%\HOT!Key.ico
adjusting the path as needed.

To AGermanUser: I have put credits to you in the PNG images:
[Author] Philippe Lhoste aka PhiLho, based on an image by AGermanUser aka AGU

[Title] AutoHotkey - It's definitely a HOT key

Let me know:
1) If you allow me to use your image this way. Otherwise, I will remove this topic.
2) If the above credits are OK. I used your nickname because that's only what I know. I can change them.

I use this icon for my scripts (I know it looks like AU3 but who cares, it looks good):

What code is used to change the icon to your own icon? I've tried a bunch of variations on the code you gave, but keep getting variations of the default icon instead of my own icon...

Thanks!
Erik

Hey PhiLho,

nearly forgot about that one. :D Thx for your credits. Of course you can use it. You're welcome.

I also found the multi-layered sources on my hard disk. Tell me if you possibly need it. In this way you could possibly get rid of this text boxes ("Autohotkey" & "It's definitely a hot key") and uncover the full flame. It's in PSP format (Paint Shop Pro 7.0) if this helps you.

Thank you for your approval.

I am actually happy with my cropping/touch-up, as it maximizes the key size, so it is still OK in the systray.
But well, you can PM your file, I may want to hack it more.
Do you allow me to reuse this image (touched up to personnalize it a bit) if I even find time to do some pages on AutoHotkey? With due credit, of course.

Out of curiosity, how did you made this image? Just colorizing a key and putting a flame image on top of it?

Anyway, I really like the concept, it is much more original that some robot hand or something... :-)

@erikcw: I forgot to put the information on my message, I updated it to show the line I use.

Sure. Be creative - use it at free will.

Jep. This is the way it happend. I selected one key within the picture and used "ColorBalance" within PSP to give it a red (hot) color. Afterwards a flame on top - voilà.

I have no doubt that the whole idea about a hot key could be designed much better than my approach. From my point of view I was always unhappy with the flame. I think for icons a flame like for example the fire within the Ahead Nero Icon would be much better.

btw. have you seen my other logo I recently posted. It's a .svg file made with Inkscape. Maybe it's on any use. Feel free to use that one too.
