These days everytime I see the scripts about COM, I really miss the lucid and practical example scripts like Chris' style.
I guess he(Chris) is not satisfied with just adding new features to AutoHotkey, he wants ahkusers "really to use and enjoy" those new functions.

Unlike the other languages help file, Autohotkey's help file provides really practical but clear examples.

I think Ahkhelp is one of the best features in AutoHotkey.

I bet he spends much time "inventing" example scripts before he really puts them on help file. :D

I do put a lot of effort into the documentation (probably more than coding), so I appreciate the comments. But without all the COM and API experts who share their work on the forum, we'd all be a lot poorer!

I use it because it helps me customize windows, such as adding transparency to them.

I use it at work to add functionality that our off the shelf programs can't do. (Like display a message on everybody's screen when a call is entered into the program).

I'm a noob at AHK, but have found both the help and these forums EXTREMELY helpful in making it work for me.

I also did a lot of customer service rep stuff in my last position, and it made my canned responses quicker and seem customized.

Other than automating my tasks, AutoHotkey helps me to understand Windows better. :)

I use AutoHotKey for all of the reasons mentioned above, but what really makes me love this app is the community.

You guys are great!

Its so simple and nice! And it does everything (but work on my linux box efficiently of course, but I'm fine with windows). Its almost a bad thing for me that its so nice and simple but powerful... I've been trying to teach myself numerous programming languages AFTER learning autohotkey... So yea Python,
C++... Those haven't been going well... I'll call it the wonderful curse of autohotkey :D

It helps me do repetitive tasks (of which I have many) much faster. And it's quick and easy for all kinds of small "fixes".

Ahk is the most straightforward of the at least two dozen keyboard macro programs that I have tried. I use it to enter accented characters and a few text editing shortcuts.

As a new user, with minimal software writing experience, I do find myself swallowing some water as I swim through the help file, leading me to ask a question in the forum. After receiving the answer I needed almost right away, I realized that I could not have written the script alone because one of the commands I needed -- CTRLDOWN -- does not appear in the help file -- at least not with the searches I made.

Which is not to say that I am not grateful for the help I have already derived from the help file, but rather to say that it is especially frustrating to be so near and yet so far from such an outstanding resource as Ahk.

T.

I am new to AHK (1.5 days new) and I am already looking for the where to donate link. I use it at work for repetative tasks, entering usernames and passwords, and just doing cool things.
