How do you know this? Are there any more shortcuts with alt and code nr? Thanks!

That's simple. To get information about ASCII you've to use a nick at the forum. If you post as plain "Guest" (without any nick) you will die completely braindead!!

This is a general technique Windows has been using for ages. ALT+{1 or 2 NumPad digits} = ASCII char, ALT+{3 NumPad digits} = ANSI code character.

You can find a complete list in Character Map found under Start > Accessories > Tools.

Back in the day (2400 modem era) I had a printout that I put together by doing each code, one by one... I used it a lot on BBSes and to create ANSI art and custom BBS menus. Good times 8) My friends and I called it 'High ASCII' but that's probably not the correct name.

I can already see it, I am becoming an old man... "In my day, we didn't have any fancy character maps!"

I first learned this trick when I visited Guatemala (several years ago) and wanted to email home. Apparently Spanish keyboards lacked an @ key at the time. They told us to use Alt+64. Presumably this was a frequent source of confusion for travelers.

128 and beyond are technically called "Extended ASCII"
