Google Reader, Thunderbird, IE7 and Opera to name but a few plus even FF2 to a lesser extent are all examples of XUL/XSLT+Ajax driven content aggregators. The whole point of a desktop app is to use less memory and parse at exponentially quicker rates, but now that the huge overheads of MSXML, COM and the IE component are employed the objective has been pretty much defeated. The only way to compensate in my opinion is to add unique features such as custom filtering, combining and tagging feeds, indexing, export, attachment manager, et al.

Well, its not THAT huge, plus the fact that you can have entire app in 30K script that you can modify...

i want to group feeds from multiple URLs and get them sorted by date. Is there a easy way of doing this or would it require alot of coding?

I know it has been a while since this topic was started, but I am wondering...

The script is very useful, but when I click on a link in the feed, the link opens within the Reader using the Internet Explorer engine. Is it possible to either
1) Use Firefox or
2) have the link open externally in the default browser?

I have been unsuccessful in my attempts.

Yes, both things are possible, although they require some knowledge.
