i was the one who originally wrote this program and i think you will have to go back to the version i made to add ftp. the reason is that mine uses an edit box instead of a listbox so the chat.dat file stays intact and never needs to be deleted. once you added the listbox each person who has the program deletes the chat.dat file so not everyone gets the full chat.

the plan is to upload the current chat%compid%.dat
to the ftp server, then the computers download all the files of the people who are online
then reads them into the list box
and if the file contents equal the last text put into the chat it will do nothing

i did this so the chat will flow down, and be readable, like a normal chat. i go tthe idea from another very very less advanced ftp chat

i need ot know hwo to check %compid% for all users and see if they send a message.

Hey all, i see this has become a dead subject and would just like to breath some new life into it. I have been working extensively on this Lan Chat Script (extensively being an overstatement in comparison to my scripting skills)

Anyways i see alot of potential in this, but it has a long way to go. first off does anyone have a modified version or does the original developer have a newer version perhaps?

Hi i am the developer and I am glad someone is still interested in this script. A couple weeks ago I actually rewrote the entire code because I wanted it to be more AIM like with multiple windows with chats from separate users. It has three files and a folder.

-Lan Chat.ahk
The main script
-Windows.ahk
This file was made so that Lan Chat can make windows for each person that you click on in the users list.
-Dynamic Windows.ahk
If you edit the variable "numberofwindows" you can make it so that Lan Chat can set the maximum number of conversation windows open at one time.
-Data
The folder that has the splash image, and files being sent, and conversations being used

If you have edited the old version I would really like to see what you have done to it because maybe I can incorporate it into the latest version.
