Yes. So? The license is clear, 30 days then buy.
If it didn't work, 'if you can't buy, use it, but not crack' wouldn't make much sense...

Its a bit strange but if you use a version called Ultima Prime it is free and doesnt have a nag screen! it comes with a lot of addons but you can delete what you don't use.

Indeed strange. Normally, I'd say it's just another cracked distro, but TC UP used to be fine and I would be very surprised if it changed. Got to check it. :)

Checked and NOT confirmed, the nagscreen is still there. And I talked with Ultima Prime, he said it was never removed. Possibly you downloaded some pirated version.

I dont know if they changed (added) a nag screen recently because I have downloaded 2 versions from their official site and neither of them had any nag screen. just a moment I will check what version is still on my pc now.
Hmm its probably a bit old ver 4.9.0.0 but it doenst have nag. Oh well if the new version have a nag then its no better, unless its a less annoying nag?!

Downloaded 4.9, the nag is there.
And it's not supposed to make the program better, but to annoy people who don't pay.

oh well my memory fails me again, It was a long time ago that I downloaded it and a long time since I used it last. I had thought I had downloaded it from the official site but I must have got it somewhere else and went to the officail site later for more info. So thats cleared up then, All versions have the nag screen. So you either live with it, use a script to get rid of it or get another file manager.

Who is that?

LMAO. Sorry, couldn't help it.

Satisfied xplorer2 user for more than 3 years now. But i'm currently trying out the competition again, see if there are any new features that could make me switch.

Total commander, after my nth time trialling, i still want to want TC, but it still doesn't seem to feel right with my working habits. Should i give it more time?

XYplorer, caught me by surprise. Last time i tried this it was a single paned file manager which stayed a total of 4 minutes on my laptop before it got deleted. Cool features : scripting, internal file associations, dual pane. Looking good actually.

I still feel i'm gonna spend more time tweaking rather than using it, whenever i try Directory Opus. I guess it feels like it tries to do too much (which i have no doubt it can).

Actually, the author of XYplorer coughs up a beta every day.

Great thing about xy is its portability. Having all your settings inside one folder is indeed very handy. With portable file associations, i just place a relative path to notepad2 and all the txt files
double click opens in notepad2. Be it in a fresh windows install, one of my virtual machines, laptop, desktop.

Only things holding me back from buying it is 1) 64 bit (dont think it'll come soon) 2) single threaded (slow on folders with icons/thumbnails)

 Post subject: Best file manager
PostPosted: March 5th, 2012, 3:44 pm
I have used Powerdesk since version 3 or 4 when it was owned and coded by a company in Colorado. It has All the major features that a file manager must have. It has a File Viewer, FTP, Archives of all kinds, dual payne and a lot more plus it does work well on win 7 64bit. (Not Overly expensive or priced)

I have Directory Opus and I purchased a license (ouch), it's expensive. It doesn't do much If Anything that Powerdesk won't do. I will say it is very configurable. I do not like the way you are pretty much forced to use Windows search and that can be a pain. Expensive!!

After using DO for almost 8 months I went back to the latest version on Powersesk and I might give total commander a try also..... but whatever you do unless you just like to spend that dough, Directory Opus is overpriced.
I guess it's a matter of preference mostly, but most folks agree that Total Commander and Powerdesk will do anything you need with files, and do it for MUCH less than Directory Opus.

dopus is terribly expeensive. and you'd have to pay for every major version, if you want to upgrade.

i ended up purchasing total commander, by the way. the licensing is quite generous, the author is a professional and is great with customers. only software i've actually paid for, along with xplorer2.

As there's no "best" filemanager indeed and also Directory Opus is powerful, but I think maybe X-Plorer itself is helpful after all it is developing and updating from time to time
