Okay, I discovered flamingtext.com a while back, and it's pretty cool, but...
Does anyone know of a program I could get which would basically do the same thing? Or maybe one I can just {EASILY} make animated flames {in different colors}? I tried my hand at making flames using RealDraw {at at some point GIMP} but I am totally lousy at it and need something I can work with. PLEASE???

Ciao,
Dra'Gon

Hello sir, that site is really outdated, very old... it's only fun for newbies/first-time you see it, the site's texts has been abused; abused in the way that they've been used too many times... I'd recommend Photopshop, combined with "Actions" (you record your actions in photoshop, it's like a macro, except it properly records your actions and the playback is fast, as its just a series of commands that are being played after each other...)... just a tip, if you're going to use those texts as logos or w/e, it's always best to make custom logos... I'm happy with my results, and i rarely spend a lot of time on making logos, infact i can only recall 1 logo i made, it took me 1 hour, and it was stupidly animated frame by frame, the result was epic though... Though my photoshop solution require some photoshop-knowledge...

Yeah, I mess w/logos now and then. The anim in my sig I did with RealDraw & Pro Motion. It's a bit of a hassle to do all the frames but it came out pretty good {for an amateur}.
I'm not worried about doin' the frames, they take a while but what the heck. I just can't seem to get my efforts to LOOK like flames {though I can draw them with pen/paper, go figure}. They just look like a total mess.
Thanks for your reply though. I'll keep looking around.

Ciao,
Dra'Gon

If animated flames is your goal, you will prolly fail... as you will have trouble making the flames look realistic, my advice would be to use a 3D program... infact you could prolly even put your text in the 3D program, it could look good...

Ive got a old animation which had flames in it (yes the whole thing is animated, this is just a single capture though):

those flames look good in low resolution, and they take less than 4 minutes to make (i know the example looks bad, i were just testing some random stuff, the latest version of that animation had some "fans" on the letters that are rotating above the fire, causing the fire to partly swirl around with the text...), with some simple adjustments you could make it look good

I believe i made those flame by a simple "light" layer, put some mist like thingy to it (i believe it was a water effect) added wind to the light, and it simply looks like fire when you change the colours on it etc... (note that it takes some time to render 3D)

That pic is the kind of thing I'd like to be able to do. Well, as far as the flames go. I can do the rotating words {though I've never tried any kind of wind effect}. I guess I'll just have to keep practicing the flames until I get it right. Thanks a bunch, Ice Tea!

Well, I can't believe I just did this. I went googling and found a site which has a "tutorial" on how to make flames {they used photoshop but gimp is what I got} and it actually looks like blue flames! At least to my amateurish eyes.

Now I just have to get them animated and I might have a good start at something {don't know exactly what yet, but what the hey}.

Sir, that won't work, its rastergraphics, its too annoynig to animate it... making those flames and putting them on text isn't hard at all in 3D... bah ah well it's ur choice.. animating flames is kinda advanced... ;) gl m8
