It all depends on the motherboard. This motherboard can accept DDR3 RAM up to 2000 Mhz, the processor can be overclocked (easily), and the FSB too. Two 9800 GT in SLI mode for ~ 260 $ is a good deal (I think).

But nevermind: it was just a (random) pick, please don't use it as a buying guide.

Ok, I was wrong about the 2-way/3-way RAM thing...

@corrupt: If you want to go for the new i7 processor, why not:

EVGA X58 SLI Classified Motherboard (400 $)
Intel Core i7 920 Processor (280 $)
3 x EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX (3-way SLI) (3 x 125 $)
Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000-Watt Power Supply (230 $)

:P

Although tempting for the fun of it... 3 graphics cards seems silly to me ;) . I had randomly picked an Intel motherboard for reliability. Out of many Intel boards that I've worked with I've only ever run across 1 defective Intel board... and that one had been physically damaged 8) .

I think 3 graphic cards are a bit too much and its only something like two times faster than one card... =D
