Wow, this is really nice! Can't believe nobody replied. I was just trying to code something like this myself, and stumbled on this when I was looking through the forums with help. Awesome! Gonna try it right away.

Edit: Oh, TemptationBlocker doesn't work on Vista :((. Anybody know of a similar solution that does?

Works perfectly for me on Vista - what's the problem? If there was more interest I would be more motivated to remove the need for temptation blocker completely and make it pure AHK.

Dunno. Maybe people don't feel the need to work? ;)

Funny thing is that there are tons of "work timers" out there, but not many programs which actually help you enforce - prevent Alt-Tab and things like that.

Really? Well, you can say there's plenty of interest on my part :). I tried looking for similar solutions and there are none.

Re Vista -- I'm using Home Edition (came with my laptop... My other one is a Business edition, I didn't try there) and I got an error when running Temptation Blocker:

1) Installation went fine, it came me a UAC prompt and did it as admin, bla bla
2) The Temptation Blocker group in the Start menu exists, but is empty after installation. Nothing there. First oddity, but oh-well.
3) I run TemptationBlocker manually (the EXE from the folder) and it says:
Code:
Run-time error '-2147024894 (8007002)':
Automation error
The system cannot find the file specified.

Doesn't tell me which file it is, of course...

And when I click OK, it closes the program.

Any advice? I'll now take time to google the error, too.

Hmm.. I have Vista Ultimate and UAC disabled.

When you install it, try right-clicking the setup file and choosing 'run as administrator'. Also try running the exe itself this way. Failing that, I suggest you disable UAC and install Comodo firewall (actually I recommend you do this anyway). Comodo is much better at alerting you to what applications are trying to do behind the scenes, and it's completely free.

Also now I think temptation blocker might require the .net framework (1.1?)

Copy the default.profile file from my zip to your temptation blocker folder.
also see here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=770120

I'll be away for a couple of days now but good luck with it! :)

Kudos

Heya!

I finally got Temptation Blocker to work! It really just needed the default profile, like you said :)

Say, any news on this? did you continue developing it?

I am having the same type of error trying to run Temptation Blocker on my two XP machines, both of which are current with their service packs. I cannot find a default profile anywhere on my machine; and so to try that, could someone arrange one for me to download? I gather from the above posts that if I do that, and put it in the same directory as the Temptation Blocker exe file, that it might begin to work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

OK folks! Teh fix is in! Create file in the same directory as the Temptation Blocker exe file. This file will be default.profile. I used Notebook to make it and saved as unicode, but I made that up. ;)

The file will contain the line, pasted into the notebook file before you save it, as follows:

C:\Program Files\Temptation Blocker\uninstall.exe***C:\Program Files\Temptation Blocker\uninstall.exe***C
