I never understood why to do this? Is it an oversight?

In general I also sugest to test scripts with enabled warning mode. This will make your code cleaner and possibly more reliable in addition that it helps to find errors.

Well I think in most cases it's an oversight. In this case, I'd say the second "b5" should actually "b6".

Editing the second "bc5" to "bc6" in the 2.10 code does the trick. It now compiles and looks to work just fine.

Amazingly, it works on my 98SE! :) Thank you so much! Haven't yet looked through the script, just tested the Debug GUI provided in the zip package, with Exif v2.11.

Since the Exif tag can be read, next question seems logical: could you build a function to remove the Exif and the thumbnail from single/bulk images? 8) I'd need this for my phone contact pictures, which take too much space when containing those tags and in certain situations may provide the wrong preview (happens with an old Huawei U1220s phone).
