in england theres a rumour that the government is cracking down hard on copyright infringement and there is lots of arresting taking place... so its probably best not to download any popular torrents at the moment :P

i dont think it will happen. and if it did, so what? on the internet they can trace ip addresses which download certain torrents. but in real life how anyone find out about people lending out cd's. its just out of the governments control i think.

Yeah, but you can use Frostwire. Limewire was just a client to the gnutella network...as far as I have read/heard they didn't shut down the actual network.
Frostwire is just basically a clone of limewire pro.

Yeah, but wouldn't all of limewire's seeders be gone?

Vuzeis nice, also a good (not strictly content filtered) build in search.
It's not only about illegal files - big files like patches or things like that is most much faster with p2p than a slow server provided by a company ;)

But I've to agree - p2p is always a big security leak.

i think that the major problem on this issue is the DRM aka Digital Restriction Management which represents the despaired tries of large industries to transfer physical merchandising strategies into the all new beautiful digital world. instead of adapting to new market situations and making videos, games and movies available for much less than the hardcopy equivalents, these folks insists to resemble an equivalent amount of money for a digital good. it doesnt matter in this case if we're talking about music, movies, ebooks or other goods such as software.
instead of lowering the price and making it available to a broader audience, which definitly would like to spend a given amount for an item, instead of wasting time by downloading some trash disguised as teh desired object from a p2p network, the current strategies try to milk their proper customer wherever possible.
as long as a price for a pure virtual item (lets say a song) is more than 1 usd (have a look here: http://itunes.apple.com/de/album/the-be ... d402060584 - each song for 1.29 EUR) people will seek a possibility to get it cheaper, illegal if neccessary.
there are enough companies who already discovered this, that having an essential low price attracts a bigger audience since every tom, dick and harry now feels that a digital service is available at a fair price (Google ADs, WoW to name just two)
Its a simple misconcept of how a major industry tries to enforce its consumers to get milked.

Than lower the price, then more people will be attracted for an item.

But teach this digital evolution to a dickhead who only knows the web from pictures in a newspaper and who insists of transferring an outdated business modell to a new age.

my 2 cents
dR

I know ThePirateBay.org is still up. I think they're only up because it says .org at the end. Lolz.

ICE should probably go for the Google next - its a shame that such a big company did nothing to prevent torrent search results

+1

yeah, lets have the world's biggest search engine being more censored for the sake of our right to spend huge amounts for our entertainment.
