|
|
so I've been doing this manually for sometime now and it has gotten very monotous; it has to do with my schedule on a weekly basis. I copy my schedule from the crewmember website and have to convert it another format. I think this is exactly what ahk is supposed to help with, repeptive tasks. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue; I honestly started reading on how to create macros and scripts; however, the letters looked familar but the words.. didn't.
Anyway, can it be done?
Here's what I copy:

this shows date, flight number, departure airport, arrival airport, dep time, arr time.
would it be possible to make example one change to exapmle two using a script? could it automatically put it in the clipboard?
oh how sweet life would be if I had a script to do this.
thanks in advance

OK questions...in all that mumbo jumbo, I see 1 date "FEB 02, 06"...not even in m/d/yy format...how do you attach each flight to a date? How do you know..."02/04/2006 3048 OMA HOU 1500 1724" is on "02/04/2006"??? Since one date is in the input, I can only assume that all flights are on the same date...until the input gives me another date to base more output on...can you highlight the key parts?...for example...
date, flight number, departure airport, arrival airport, dep time, arr time | Code: | Pairing Number Pairing Date Position DH Reserve Aug Emp Id Name Sys Seniority
H123K 020206 CA01 L A1234 DOE , JOHN
I9A71 030206 FO01 L G6420 DALE , WILLIAM
H123K 020206 FA01 L G9876 SMITH , JANE 67
3048 140 04 LRJ OMA HOU 1500 S 1724 0224 |
| Code: | | 02/04/2006 3048 OMA HOU 1500 1724 |
...the 2nd column (above 140) could be a date, but none of them say "02/04/2006"...also why does it list other pilots?...why is the line with all the info by itself, not lining up like the rest?...where are you copying from...can you link to the website...or save a copy & upload it so we can see the source...perhaps there's a better way to copy so you don't need to wade thru this...or perhaps the site has a "download csv" option that is better formatted...if this website is who you fly for, perhaps you can talk to your boss (or web dept) & get the info in a parseable format (csv, tsv)...or perhaps a printable format that is useful...if I could see this jumble on the source site, I could understand it more...currently I could write a parser that strips all lines not "beginning with a single space & 4 digits"...but that ain't very sophisticated...then I would parse each of the lines left, spinning the info into the order you want, but I still don't know what date each line is for... _________________

I've sorted that 'source' based on plain guessing, so it should be possible to identify patterns/positions.
Hope that helps: [FlightPlan] |

Looks like you've done an excellent job JSLover.
Let's see if the next request will be something like: "script to help an rodeo cowboy?" |

wow, i leave for a trip and get back and voila! i'm so excited i just quickly read through the replies and haven't even tried the script out yet.
as far as the flying in the past and 'spacing' issues; i took a current trip and replaced in a notepad the names of the innocent as well as the dates. i wasn't sure whether posting flights in advance with the crewmembers names, hotel phone numbers, etc was a good idea. trying to be security conscious.
i will get back asap!
thank you
p.s. wonder why i didn't get any emails regarding replies to the topic? |

Here goes:
arrg having problems just editing this post... this is one flight on day one:
| Code: | 2799 010 02 SLJ IAH ICT 0825 S 1008 0143 0517
Pairing Number Pairing Date Position DH Reserve Aug Emp Id Name Sys Seniority
I959K 020207 CA01 L A3522 DIRT , JOE
I959KA 020207 FO01 L T4037 JOHNSON , JIM
I9G53A 020207 FA01 R A3153 WALKER , TEXAS R. 1172
Exception Code Description
673 |
from the first line
flight number=2799
??=010
date (day)=02
aircraft type =slj
dep=iah
arr=ict
dep time=0825
scheduled/actual time=s
arr time=1008
flight time=0143
aircraft tail number=0517
All data below that is crewmember information.
Not sure why the colums are getting skewed (i'll attach the original to the post.)
The start date is listed as you mentioned at the top and in the format you discussed.
The 'date' information above 140 is actually the day the 'pairing' starts for each crewmember in ddmmyy.
It would take an act of congress to get the code changed or formatted.
I can get you the web page source info if you still need that.
Also here is a link that i use to 'parse' the data to get it to something manageable: (choose continental express web ccs format and past attached text)
http://www.logbookpro.com/apdl.aspx
Hope this helps!
Thanks again for your help.

I can't figure out how to attach a file, I'll try pm'ing both of you.

Still not perfect, as it can only print the day, not the full date like you demonstrated in your first post... but is there a reliable way to find out the month and year, apart from inferring that it's in this or the next month and year (using the current date, comparisons, and additions)? |

The only place I can find a date is the first line (from first post)
| Code: | | H123K CA01 FEB 02, 06 |
That's the only place I see. Wish I could attach the text file. |

I noticed some inconsistencies in format from my posts today, I guess because the trip already occurred some of the information changed. Any way this is a trip in the future and should show up in the post with the correct spacing (fingers crossed)

yep, that looks just like it does in clipboard.
this is what it looks like on the webpage:
each arrow next to flight number is a pull down to show corresponding crew information. |

Alright, here we go. And remember, you can assign this whole thing to a hotkey in a persistent script if you want, I just find it easier to run the script each time.
All the new code before the loop is just to handle the date.
| Code: | RegExMatch(Clipboard,"i)(JAN|FEB|MAR|APR|MAY|JUN|JUL|AUG|SEP|OCT|NOV|DEC) \d\d, (\d\d)",Date)
month := 0
year := "20" . Date2
if IsLabel(Date1)
Goto %Date1%
else
Goto JAN
DEC:
Month++

Thanks for the quick reply. I saved the code as an .ahk extension and executed it after copying my schedule from the webpage, I also tried pasting it into notepad and then executing the script. I am getting an error:
Am I doing something wrong?
Again, I really appreciate the help.

Would you guys be willing to help me again? I've looked at the script jonny wrote and have tried to understand how it does what it does so I could modify the existing code to parse a new format; but I am not making much (if any) progress. I think this format should be easier to parse:
