Does somebody has an idea how to do the following with Hotkey
at Outlook 2002:
Inbox: Take the file name of an eclosed file "nnnnnn", create a new empty file "nnnnnn".txt and replace the enclosed file by the empty txt file.
Intention: Reduce the size of .pst files, but not loose the information that the sender had enclosed a message and name of the file.
Thanks in advance

Although you could probably automate this, you might consider a specialized program. Here is a site that lists many other PST/Outlook tools: http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.htm
I have used LBE Toolbox to strip and save all attachments from a PST file. I don't recall for sure if it leaves a placeholder in the original e-mail, but I think it does. LBE Toolbox used to be free. You might still be able to find the free version on the 'net. If not, the trialware version might not be crippled with respect to extracting attachments. On the other hand, you might find a better solution at the tools page above. |
