|
|
Hallo,
Iīm a very amused user of autohotkey and I donīt want to be without it.
But my question is: In last months there werenīt really new versions with much new features, but only very little versions and mostly only for bugs.
Will there be new versions with new features in next time? Or will autohotkey not as well be supported as it was in the past?
Now autoit3 is almost better supported than autohotkey so I feel, and Iīm a bit disappointed of this...
There are many good items in the wish list forum and I would be very glad if some of them would be realized.
I remember there was spoken about Autohotkey2. Are you working on it?
Greets,

AHK is constantly changing, little by little, day by day.
When the changes come this often, the only way for a big release, is not to release the little stuff, and save it all for a single big release. Why would you wish to ask this?
We get the changes as they become available, and don't have to wait! _________________ Jeff Main |

we've recently gotten callback functions and the standard library structure, those were both long planned, and are now here.
I am sure the select/switch case function is high on the list, but it is not first. If you want a particular feature done faster, Donate to AHK and tell Chris that you would like the payment to go towards a particular feature. It can't hurt. _________________

Unfortunately, I don't work on AutoHotkey full time -- and since I'm still the only ongoing developer, this really limits the pace of progress.
I have more time in some months than others, whicih is why sometimes things seem to go quickly and others very slowly.
AutoHotkey v2 is the next major thing I'll work on. Some of the analysis and design have been done, but no development yet. |

Hy Chris,
thanks for your answer.
I didnīt realize that you are the only programmer on autohotkey. Itīs a pity.
Will you integrate some very useful Functions from others like Titans xmldoc() / xmlpath() ?

| You don't believe his thread, AutoHotkey Needs You is meant to recruit developers (testers, etc.)? Do you know someone volunteered and was turned down? |

Do you know someone volunteered and was turned down? | The overall feeling I get is that if help was wanted that more time would be spent trying to organize and coordinate the efforts of those who have offered. Since that doesn't seem to be the case, AutoHotkey will likely remain a one man show, with the exception of the odd bit of code from others thrown in from time to time (if that code happens to fit perfectly with plans for AutoHotkey at the time). That's my impression anyway... |

Before programming I managed a restaurant. One lesson learned was that despite the temptation to do it all myself (because I really *could* do it better and faster) that my time was better spent coordinating all of the other employees.
Though I would use a much softer tone than the other posts, I agree that, since you yourself have admit the task has become larger than you can handle, that perhaps your time would be better spent handing the tasks off to others and then reviewing and approving what they've done. You still maintain all the control, but your volunteers (gladly) do all the work.
Everyone benefits from the improvements achieved. OpenSource doesn't mean "gave it away". |

I tend to agree and would personally like to participate but, I probably won't spend any considerable time working on anything without being given some form of direction on what specifically to work on. That might be a good thing though, since C++ isn't one of my favorite languages to work with . Unfortunately, time is non-refundable...
Btw, please note that I didn't say that I thought there was anything wrong with AutoHotkey remaining a one man show if that's the way Chris wants it to be . |

Operating a restaurant, co-ordinating employes would contribute to making money and more money and more money.
I suspect that may not be the motivting factor here, in fact perhaps we have AHK because of that? |
