Maybe only limited to unregistered users, but have the search results page save a cookie and the cookie allows the new topic button to appear in the Ask for help section. The cookie should expire after a few hours.

| What about create a new topic with a title like this "PLEASE READ THE HELP FILE AND|OR SEARCH THE FORUM FOR YOUR QUESTION BEFORE POSTING" and sticky it, since the current "PLEASE READ IF YOU'RE NEW..." is being ignored. |

| I don't know much about this area technically, so probably won't work on it anytime soon. If there are too many repetitive questions in Ask for Help, maybe just respond with something short like "your answer is already in the forum, please do a search". |

I already wrote a script to type that. _________________

Perspective of a newbie:
1. Autohotkey script not working.
2. Check helpfile, don't understand it
3. go to autohotkey.com to look for more help
4. Ohh, I see there is a forum
5. Ohh, I see the first category, "Ask for help"- that's exactly what I need...
6. Asks for help.
That's why people don't search first.
Here is how you fix it. Create a new forum category called "Search for answers". Place it at the top of the list of forums.
Then, inside of it, place a sticky that gives tips on searching the forum.
That should capture a lot of it. |

What about the sticky at the top of Ask for help? It already has the info. It just seems like nobody reads it. _________________

Welcome back engunneer. But, I have to sadly disagree. I think that not everyone has the mental capacity to do such a thing.
