A brand new defragmenter for Windows
Quote:
Welcome to Defraggler

From everyone here at Piriform, the company that brought you CCleaner and Recuva... we now bring you a file defragmentation tool... Defraggler!

It differs from other defrag tools on the market, by enabling you to quickly and simply defrag the files you want to, without having to process the whole drive. Simply run it, select the file and defragment in seconds. No more struggling with the Windows defragmentation tool!

And remember like all Piriform products, Defraggler is completely free for both corporate and individual use.

... Home

Note: Recuva is a file recovery tool and CCleaner a junk files cleaner (with optional integration to the recycled-bin).

Tip: Although an installer is provided, no installation is required. The installer can be opened with 7zip and then drop the exe only where you want. This works also for CCleaner and Recuva.

Warning:The default CCleaner installer has an option to install the Yahoo toolbar Twisted Evil You have other builds without it here http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds

CCleaner ftw!
This company makes great tools. If only they were open source...

Really! I've always been amazed that MicroSoft does not distribute any of their commands or utilities (like FINDSTR) as open source. I can understand why they think that keeping the Windows operating system closed protects their investment. But tiny commands or utilities like FINDSTR really have little or nothing to do with the operating system as a whole and if they would just try it and release those tools as open source, people would contribute to them and would repair all of their bugs and shortcomings. In addition, the commands would only improve. People would produce enhancements and improvements that would make these commands much, much better. It would not harm their bottom line in any way. If anything, it would only improve it.

It's just so unfortunate. I guess it's a symptom of big corporate financing.

Its even worst. Once I was working on project to get open file names in the system (done in app handle.exe by Sysinternals). I contacted some programmer which site I was reading that had something similar on the menu, with question like "is there any way to get all open files in the system without writting driver". It turned out the guy works for M$ now, and hes reply was like "There is a way, but I work for M$ and that is coorporate secret" ....

I eventualy find out that method later, via lot of searching , experimenting and reading... and it turned out that method can block application in kernal with no way to fix it, even when executing method from thread and killing stucked thread (which was also documented on SysInternals forum) ... so unfortunate...

This was part of the, now abandoned project, for Total Commander content plugin for which the plan was to display if file was locked and what applicatiion is holding the lock (which still doesn't exist)

BTW, this programm is really good. Also, its single exe that can be moved around.
