|
|
The Mouse acts like it goes to sleep whenever a lengthy operation
is performed. Such operations include ripping a DVD, Burning a DVD,
Defragmenting the hard drive, etc. After such an operation has
completed, I find that I have to move the mouse around for about
three seconds before the screen starts showing the mouse movements.
Everything performs normally after that, but I just find this behavior
very annoying. I've tried turning off all "power management" features,
but get the same results. I have five different PC's and experience this
annoying behavior on all of them. Three of these computers have 1 Gig
of RAM; the other two older machines have 512 Meg of RAM.
All are running Windows XP Pro SP2
I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to prevent this annoying little problem???
Thanks,
Larry |

I get similar problems with my bluetooth connected mouse under heavy CPU stress. I don't think it can be prevented. _________________

Buy a mouse with a tail.
This sleep mode happens at the mouse hardware level, and is done for wireless optical mice to conserve battery power. Each mfg has their own method, sensitivity, etc for mouse low-power modes.
Personally, my Logitech mouse performs nicely when it goes in and out of low-power mode-- I don't notice the transition. |

| USB mice also seem more prone to lag in case of a heavily loaded CPU. |
