pidgin.im

This program needs no introduction, but people still ask me how to use IRC or MSN Wink

Formerly known as Gaim, but changed name to Pidgin due to ongoing trademark issues with AOL. Still the only open-source multi-messanger worth using.

After trying Gaim(Pidgin), Trillian, and Miranda IM, I personally prefer Pidgin simply because of its interface.

I tried Miranda sometime ago. It's slim and feature rich but it do not support yahoo/msn cross chat and conferencing (chat with multiple persons in the same dialog). It also require more configuration than YM,AIM,MSN and trillian.

Do Pidgin provide any good features that other do not have, eg. cross protocol conferencing?

Pidgin is a nice IM client.
I have tried making a hotkey to toggle show\hide the Buddylist but it won't cooperate. Did anybody do this successfully?
