Out of curiosity, is there a list of the Moderators and Administrators for the AHK forums? Some forums list them right on the main page.
From time to time I see notes left in threads that are moved or altered; and I wonder, "Who are these nameless, faceless creatures that control the AHK universe from behind the scenes, and leave nothing but obscure, gray, small-font messages in their wake?"
Inquiring minds would like to know

3? That's it? I assume those are Moderators, although I'm not exactly sure of the technical difference between a Mod and an Admin. Obviously Chris is an Admin... PhiLho? toralf? corrupt? Rajat? evl? Members' titles should be shown underneath their names when they post (currently I believe Chris is the only one who shows a title).
I don't know if there's a process for becoming a Mod, but I hereby nominate Lexikos (if the responsibility is desired of course).

Of course I have no way of knowing if this was posted by an actual Mod...  but it does bring up an interesting point. Do they have the right to be anonymous? I suppose technically that is up to Chris since it's his site (and he obviously hasn't forced the issue), but I think it is certainly not in the spirit of open source. Since Chris is unafraid and unashamed to attach his title to his posts, why would other Mods not follow his example? Perhaps another "Undercover Mod" will enumerate the benefits of secrecy.
P.S. One of the reasons I advocated an addition to the Mods' team is the increased spam experienced by the forum (which requires cleanup). AHK must be getting more popular to warrant such attention from digital miscreants.

I respect that moderators wants to be anonymous, if they want to be. We have the right to act anonymous. Why they should not? If the mod does his job, then there is no reason to show his face. |
