Hi MYYM, After the game started yesterday I never tried it straight away. Instead I closed it so I could have a go with it later. I tried opening it again yesterday evening and the "your_rn" file was deleted staright away (the program must have deleted it for some reason) and it's asking me for the RN again.

It is now giving me a different SN-

SN : F423F-LMNOPQB3641077N

Thanks, Jon

Hi,
That’s bizarre. The program shouldn’t delete “your_rn” file unless the RN is invalid or changed.
That won’t happened unless in one of the following:
1- Program has been reinstalled or moved to a new location. (That’s the idea of the RN that it should be unique for every installation).
2- The user modified the content of “your_rn” file.
I have tested this SW so many times without meeting this problem even once. (Under windows 98 SE, XP both FAT32 file system)
The only case this situation has been reported was as you can read in previous posts in this topic by Laszlo while he was testing the SW.
And I can’t see any common factors except the (NTFS file system).
I don’t know exactly how could it change the behavior of the program but I can see now that it does!
Unfortunately I don’t use NTFS at the moments on any of my hard drives.
I’ll try to find a way to perform more tests to find out what’s wrong.
Anyway, Thanks for reporting this.

the new SN is invalid! I don’t know why? Maybe you can run it once again just to make sure.
There ‘re more questions maybe you can help me to find out their answers!
- Would the program produce the same SN every time you run it now?
- What if you reinstall it in a new folder in different drive? Would the SN change?
- Would it change again if you ran it more than once from its new location?
Thanks once again for your help.

The program has always been in the same directory and I havn't changed the "your_rn" file.

I ran it again last night and it gave me the same SN as it did before (the one you say is invalid). I ran it again today and it has given be a different one and this ones stays the same each time I run it.

I'll give that a try. When you say "reinstall" do you mean re-download it or just copy it to a new directory. This PC has only got one hard drive but I have got another PC with NTFS that I could copy it to if you wanted.

Thanks, Jon

Well, I started to believe that NTFS is changing the behavior of the SW somehow. it works without any problem with FAT32. anyway, let's give it another try. thanks for your time.
