the logo is fine so stop naging
on another note:
t-shirts. wold it be pasibule to get this logo on a t-shirt. stickers are cool but to have a AutoHotkey t-shirt wold be uber cool.
Im thinking a black t-shert with the logo in white on the tshest and the autohotkey web adress on the back
one medium pleece:) _________________ -._.-¨¯¨-._.-IM@PΩW-._.-¨¯¨-._.- |

everyone is free to tell her/his opinon. but if that one is bringing
arguments, i could parhaps use them to make it better...
if you have a logotype for a brand/company you can do all sorts of
marketingstuff with it. merchandizing so to say. you could do shirts
and stickers with the old logo as well...

Thanks - I appreciate your openness to criticism. There's nothing wrong with the logo, per se. It just doesn't jump out and grab me. Since it is, after all, a logo, I agree that colorization may not be the answer, but maybe a more exciting font (without losing readability) would do it for me. _________________

| some green. the color and the application icon in the tray has already been associated to me that ahk is running. so if it's not green, it doesn't "feel" like it's ahk. a little green perhaps.. |

@kweso
I like where this topic is going. Since you asked for constructive criticism, I have a little. I think the 'AHK' on the key should be in all caps, and centered on the key (horizontally and vertically). In the word 'AutoHotkey' only the A and the H are in caps, not the k (it's a distinctive quirk, see the original logo). I would also prefer a more pronounced difference between the 2 uppercase and the lowercase letters. Lastly, I'd like to see the key and the flames in red, with all the lettering in green (the green and red hues you've chosen are great). _________________ http://autohotkey.net/~jaco0646/ |

hi,
@joco0646: i tried to write the ahk on the key in caps. i found it was
not fitting. but anyway it would be possible.
but in my opinon two things that are impossible: center the "AHK" on
the key. and combine the green and the red version.
centered typo is something for certificates or tombstones. if you want
some suspence in you got to put a controlled amount of disparity in
your composition. anyway, on most keyboards the keylabels are not
centered. especially for labels with more than one letter (cmd, alt, ctrl ...)
and you know that red and green are complementary. it´s very difficult
to combine them. and if you do it, you have to emphasize one of the
colors and not evenly distribute them each to one half of the logo. in the
end, a logo would be just a small part in a companies corporate design.
so you would have to define a color(-set) which represents the identity
of that company. and then the logo would have this color(s). if a company/
brand (like ahk) does not have a corporate identity, i think ist best to
create a black/white logo and change the color to what fits best in every
situation.
about the captial letters. of course it´s possible to write the k in small.
i just depends on how you read it. if it´s automatic and hotkey then of
course the k is small (like in the logo). but i thought of the short version
("AHK"). so the big letters in the logo just represent the abbreviation.
@buginafug: maybe you should change the fan?
however: i think i´ve shown mine. what about yours. like to see your
ideas (but please do not missuse my logo create your own)

Nice. I like the red key.
I don't like the typography of "AutoHotkey" that much though, and its colors: maybe use black-and-white?
Would be cool if you could transform the key into icon-size (12x12, 16x16, 32x32 pixels, etcet.)

the colored versions are toys. gloss, shine and reflections are not what
makes a logo. contour is important. a logo has to work as staight black-
white.
edit: maybe later i try to create a .ico |
