hello, i just started to use ahk. for now i just use it for some hotkeys to
launch applications, to control the volume and to shutdown my pc. but
soon i realized, that this is just the tip of the iceberg. well, blah blah...
what i want to say is that thats another fkn good piece of software which i
am allowed to use for free. as i am not a programmer i cant help you with
some code or stuff. but i wanted to do something. so i used this boring
sunday evening to play with a little logo type.

i do not want to offend the creator of the original logo, its a good one.
but i thought a logo should follow certain rules (readability, printability
in small ...).

anyway... just playing...

ahk needs more artistic sense imo
Chris is engineer he might have no sense at art
why don't we open an art contest?

I like it. But why is the canvas so big?

That's a really cool pic.

(it could very easily be vector based).

My only suggestion would be to distinguish the "A" "H" and "K" in some way (i.e. put flames on them or make those letters outlined or give them a 3D look... or whatever )

a contest is a nice idea.

i´ve done it in illustrator, so it is vector based.
but the only thing i would do with "a h k" is to
keep them in caps while the other letter are in
smallcaps...

(sorry for the big canvas. made it smaller)

thx

I'm a little bit into graphics, too - Well done logo! Many people don't know what raster and vector are... I knew a guy who did side jobs designing logos for companies, but he worked in raster - I hope they never needed a large format banner printed out!

I think there have been some other threads with alternate logos... I will see what I can find. I'd love to see a contest where people submit cool logos, but I wouldn't count on Chris changing the logo on the website.

P.S. your single-color design lends itself quite well to output via vinyl stickers... I own a plotter! Maybe we could have a fund-raiser where people donate money to get an AHK sticker or something.

stickers would be fun. but maybe just the image without "autohotkey"...

btw: i did a web2.0 version of the logo. but i don´t dare showing it. 2.0-design is quite clueless...

anyway...

I think the logo needs color, you can always just make the stickers in black and white . . .

I want to like it, but it's really kinda bland and boring and doesn't really appear that much time was spent creating it.

actually... a good logo has to "work" in a b/w-version as well. and as i
already said: i got a colorful, shiny web2.0 version of the logo. im just
to busy at the moment to finish it and upload it.

@soggydog: well, actually i did not spend as much time for this logo as
i usually do for logos. indeed. normally i would do lots of research,
comparing, sketching, finetuning. and normaly someone would pay me
for it. but anyway. it´s ok if you dont like it. but if you would have
concrete criteria, means some arguments, i maybe could work on it a
little more. maybe you got an idea yourself?

have a nice day
