What else would you expect? Their www server has been DoSed off. Thankfully they have many mirrors for the actual downloads.

Site's Up!...you have until...
...since it's page 2 now, countdown again...
Notes...
  • You must download the full installer...UPDATING DOES NOT COUNT!...but if you want, download the full installer (keep it or delete it), then just update (you don't need to USE the downloaded full installer if you don't want to {but you must download it, for it to count})...

...actually I expected that, but they should've mirrored their www server along with their downloads, not to mention specifying the EXACT Download Day Date & Time (& timezone!)...(I posted the exact time as soon as I found it)...

Among other things, security is one area where FF and IE will never catch up with Opera. Not to mention that Opera is also more standards compliant than both... and the list goes on...

I'm not going to say Opera is better than FF though (it is, but I'm not going to say it).

Free Download Manager was spyware-ridden. I don't like that, but it's clean now, and it's the only one that works well for me

I've had good luck with MetaProducts Download Express.

Firefox 3 Portable is already out. I'm glad. Opera just started giving me trouble again. It just stopped working. It's not like it froze or anything, but it wouldn't download the page! Meanwhile nothing else was using up my 56k connection. I opened up Firefox and it worked fine...
Opera 9.5 looks cool and all, but this isn't the first time I've had this issue. And no, it's not a firewall issue, because one minute I'll be surfing fine, and the next...it just STOPS FRICKIN' WORKING! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil You mean you don't have an icon with a little dude putting a gun to his head!?
Lol, anyway, now that FF3 Portable is here, I won't be using Opera for a while. Or Maxthon. Now, if Opera had a portable version, that might be worth looking into. Smile

Oh, btw thanks for that link Zippo, I'll check it out. I've tried a lot of download managers, but that one has escaped me.

Opera has some pretty cool features; I just wish it'd work! And I wish I could adjust that fat tab bar to something slimmer (was it like that pre-9.5? I don't remember). Opera supports mouse gestures right out of the box, it has a shiny interface (Ooh, pretty), and it can save web pages to a single archive file. I wish FF could save archive files like that, but the only extension we've got works for a severely outdated FF.
It's a cool browser and all, I've just had my share of trouble with it and prefer FF.

I hear they are working on porting Opera to C# and a few people are integrating Lua into it. That should make it run smoother and make it easier to customize. Give it time.

I also hear they are planning releasing it for Ubuntu next month.

I spent an hour searching Google but didn't find anything on a portable version either. Maybe one day Sad

Dear n-l-i-d,

I shall always remember this day as the day when my lowly search engine skills were triumphed by superior search engine prowess.
