I wish there was such a script

I've just added it
I last updated the list around Febuary/March time so scripts posted since then aren't listed.
I'll try and update it at some point. |

Thanks Jon. The work you've put into this catalogue has been a great benefit and is much appreciated.
By the way, if you or anyone else happens to be interested in a more formal role in categorizing and promoting all these great scripts, please let me know. |

I've just updated the list with all scripts posted since Febuary 5th.
I may have a problem with the next update though since I've reached the maximum allowed post length on both posts

The problem with a formal list is deciding what to include. On this list there aren't really many restrictions on what can be included. A lot of them were put into a catagory based on the topic title. If the topic title didn't make much sense then I would visit the topic to view the description of it. A formal list would probably mean the scripts having to be tested and rated etc which would take much longer.
Maybe something like what you suggested before would be best where people submit their own (or other peoples) scripts for inclusion on an official list with a short description. A bit like they do on download sites.
I don't mind helping in anyway I can though. |

Yes, that's the problem. There are probably about 1000 scripts here now, which is probably too many to include on a formal list. So someone would have to select the best ones. The fairest way would probably be something where users vote and rate their favorite scritps and mods -- something like phpBB's scripts & mods database, which sorts in descending order by rating. Maybe they're offering that part of their site as open-source (or could be persuaded to share it). Perhaps someone knows if this is true, or would be willing to research it.
Anyway, thanks for all you've done here in this topic. It's the next best thing to having a full-fledged vote-for-your-favorite-scripts system. |

I was about to start a new topic (as I have reached the post limit on this one) with one post per category and a content list in the fist post (a bit like Skan has done in his AHK functions post).
But before I do, I was wondering whether it would be better to keep this list on the Wiki instead (maybe keep a pinned topic in this forum with a link to it) so that anyone can add to it and edit it (It may be a while before I have time to update it again especially with the number of scripts now available)
The only disadvantage I can see with putting it on the wiki is keeping track of which scripts havn't been added. When I put the list together, I attempted to add most of the script posted in this forum. Also, it would mean that the list would not appear when doing a search in the forum.
What do you think? |

Sorry for the delayed reply.

But you should go with whatever you decide is easiest and most effective. Thanks for all the work you've put into this. |

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply.
After I had thought about it more and after your reply I decided that the wiki was the best place for the list.
I have just finished transferring the list to the wiki and I'll replace the list in this topic with a link to the list in the wiki.
http://www.autohotkey.com/wiki/index.php?title=Script_Listing
(It's the first time I've edited a wiki page so I've probably made a mistake somewhere )
