Hi,
We are looking at having forms in front of SAP screens to cut down completion time by defaulting values to fields. Somebody has already had a go with AHK at this with mixed results - particularly with trying to populate Drop Downs on the SAP screen. Before investing solid time in your product can you please advise if this can be made robust for several users or will we need to give in and use a SAP product? A straight answer will be most appreciated! |

Well... from a user point of view... i would say that this tool can probably do what you need... but you will need to learn how to use it. Things will not be done for you, unless you want to start paying ppl... and that is a different story. _________________

We use iMacros to automate the SAP Web GUI, that works well. Maybe that is a solution for you as well?

While we have the commercial version (Scripting Edition), the free version can automate many SAP Web GUI elements, too. |

Feg, in my opinion, if you invest some time into developing a good AHK script you will end up with a very robust solution. I've never dealt with SAP but I made a script that automates some interaction with Oracle, which is a pretty hostile environment for AHK, and it's 'pretty' reliable.
If I spent more time on it, I could make it 100% reliable. Right now, it's 'good enough' until I have time to go back and rewrite it from the ground up (it was one of my 1st scripts and I've learned much since then). Error and exception handling is probably one of the trickiest parts of creating scripts like these, though.
If you do decide to work on an AHK solution, I will say that the community here tends to be very helpful as long as you are putting forth an effort and not just asking for freebies. There might be some simple things that can fix the scripts that you already have... Hopefully someone here has dealt with SAP before and can assist. _________________ [Join IRC!]
