Well this is "General Chat" so here it goes. I've tried asking on a site for this sort of thing {http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum} but no one's responded there. I'm HOPING that someone here has heard of it.

A loooong time ago I had an album {LP, no less} with some songs I really liked. One of the songs on this album was "So Far Away" {also sung by Carole King}, another was "Fixing A Hole" {also sung by the Beatles}. The song I'm particularly interested in {well I'd like the whole album if I could find it} is "Carry It On" {or "Carry On"}. Part of the lyrics are:

"Carry it on, carry it on, carry on.
My son, carry it on, carry it on, carry on..."

"I came into this world all alone, my son.
I am here today, but any day I'll be gone.
I will leave this life the way I came, my son..."

"You may choose to use it or reject it, son.
You must do what you will, you have a will, carry on..."

That's about all I can recall of it. I believe it was 1 or 2 guys, possibly brothers{?}, though I'm not sure. NO ONE I've asked has any clue of what I'm talking about so I'm hoping someone here can help me. If I remember right, this was back in 70's/80's when I had the album. I've checked google using different variations of the above and haven't gotten anywhere with it. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help here!

Ciao,
Dra'Gon

I emailed my mother-in-law. My wife and I would play a game with her where we name a word, and she starts singing lyrics from a song that contain that word. She's like a giant music grep for certain genres. I think this fits with her style, so we'll see if she comes up with anything.

the hardest one we gave her was the word "Tonic". It took her two days, but she came up with "Piano Man" by Eric Clapton.

LOL... Gee whenever I do that {sing songs with phrases people around me say} they call it "annoying". I think I'd like your mother-in-law Wink .

Oh, and Billy Joel did "Piano Man":
"There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin"

Thanks a bunch, I'll be waiting patiently for her reply.

Ciao,

I think you're alone on this one.

roffles,

If google doesn't know.... *shrug*

I've used google to find songs by searching for lyrics "a couple words from the song".

Might be worth a try... but as Ian pointed out... sometimes google just doesn't know.

Well heck, if NO ONE knows about this song, maybe I'll just add words to what I recall of it and put it out myself Laughing.
Hard to believe that I imagined it though. I tried the google thing but nothing came up that was even close {a lot of garbage really}. Ah well, maybe someday someone will know what I'm talking about.

...yes record it, call it your own, then wait for the RIAA to sue you, then at least you'll know who sung it...

Ok, but really...can you post more info?

...could you list all of the ones you remember?...& track numbers?...I'm sorry, I don't know what you remember, but every bit would help...track numbers, general "this song, then this song" track order...12 or 13 songs total?

...I'm sorry? "also sung by" does that mean those 2 songs were on this album/LP but sung by <person-X>...or were those 2 songs on this album sung by Carole King & the Beatles?...basically was this album/LP a various artists album or a <person-X> album...

Sorry, I can't recall the order, this was back in late 70's/early 80's.

Both of those songs were sung by the singer/duo of this album. I meant that they were also sung by Carole King/Beatles on separate albums.

I might have miss-recalled some of the lyrics here, but I don't believe I mangled it that badly. I've tried several variations of different parts on google with no luck. If I had any musical talent at all I'd try recreating the tune and post it here. I still might try at some point, just in case.
