Just found this, looks fantastic. I work as a software tester and spend my whole life clicking the same buttons over and over again, and was sure there had to be some way I could automate some of the things I do without having to request my company pays for vastly expensive commercial software which does a lot of the things I don't need to do. I first tried using Python with a win32 API add on module, which looked like it could work quite well, but I hadn't spent long experimenting with that before I found AutoHotkey, which is sort of the same thing except I don't have to spend ages reading win32 documentation and the script start up time is far faster.
Only had a quick experiment so far, but it seems very easy to use, fast, and free. Great job. _________________ http://galaxyhack.sourceforge.net |

Thats how I discover autohotkey, when I was trying to get audio files from webster for my 5000 vocabulary words after searching for few on webster I start looking for automation and I found autohotkey. I downloaded audio files for all of those words in less than few hours, without autohotkey it could have taken me months.
This was my first time working with any programing language; it was easy and fun to learn new tricks and figure out how to do something in ahk. Now, I have found many uses of autohotkey.
Two things I like about AHK: Its forum has great support and its programming language is easy to learn. _________________ -Tru |

| Quote: | | to get audio files from webster for my 5000 vocabulary words | Well, I've done the same . I use it that way: select a word within any text, push a button (hotkey) and it will spell the word (if available). I've combined several dictionaries I've downloaded that way. |

BoBo you were the first one to help me out with my audio files as I had no clue what to do. You actually gave a small script that searched the word and downloaded the audio file.
Thanks, once again. |

I'd like to congrat the people who's developing this software. It is amazing! And I just started using it. Now I can make the "multimedia keys" and extra mouse buttons have a real use!
Thanks a lot for it!!!

What Luciano said! Between the excellent Help file and this forum, both increase AutoHotkey's value every day, and lower the learning curve for newbies like myself. I'm grateful to every single one of you big-brained bipeds that are eager to help others. _________________ - Zaine Ridling, THE GREAT SOFTWARE LIST |
