They have some unique programs which I haven't seen anywhere else, such as CmdLine:

Quote:
CmdLine is the only tool of its kind - it is actually able to read the commandline parameters of processes. This can reveal important information about how processes are started. The ID and full path of each process is also shown.

I'm not sure I can trust the work of someone that can't spell or count...

''We our proud''
Ummm... We ARE proud

"...both personal, educational, commercial and non-commercial"
both = two (2)
personal, educational, commercial and non-commercial = four (4)

Maybe they don't know English perfectly, but their tools are really good. Smile

A bit like nirsoft, but they do harder things.

Very nice.

Although, after Power Shell, cmd.exe CLI tools rly loose their value.

Also, I don't think its comparable to nirsoft by value. Almost all of the command line tools are easy to implement and are available around in different CLI forms.

I'd say that all nirsoft tools that I know are easy to implement. APT / APM beat them all.

They are both free. Smile
Yeah, console ones aren't that great, but the http / ftp client is handy. Smile

Only if 89.99$ is "free" in your country Very Happy

Quote:
Here's what you get with the Action Pack:
* Deep System Explorer Pro, UNLIMITED Home License
* ProcessGuard, UNLIMITED Home License
* Port Explorer, UNLIMITED Home License
* WormGuard, UNLIMITED Home License
* Access to the Restricted Downloads Area
where you'll find even more software

The total value of this package is over $160,
but it's all yours for just $89!

Now, I don't say thats much for such a great software, but the story was, again, about console tools Laughing

Glad this was new to you too! I have a few questions. What the heck does APT / APM mean?

Why so?

I thought its Acation Pack but it seems m^2 found hidden site section Razz

Because Power Shell is teh best thing invented in this century, IMO Smile
Far from it that there are no tries before that, but nothing that succesifull. Guys developing it took the best out of it, unix shells and scripting languages around and combined it into PS.

I will compare it to unix shell, because I don't find cmd.exe to be shell worth mentioning (its quite emberessing)

So, if bash is 10, Power Shell is 100. I never thought I will say this for any MS product .....

After reading interview with architect / developer it was clear why is that so... both dont' come from windows society.

Its a lot there to grasp, but in short, you have object oriented console where you can pipe objects between CLI apps (cmdlets) without loosing any information (contrary to bash text parsing). The best thing is that every shell important thing is stanardised, like names of custom cmdlests or names of parameters of cmdlet to prevent so called "syntax explossion" coming from using dozens of lil CLI tools from different developers each inventing its own little syntax. You have access to entire dotNet framework etc...

For instance:
Get-Process | ? { $_.Threads.Count -gt 25 } | Tee-Object c:\1.txt

First cmdlet, return array of objects (each is dotNet type Process) which are then sent to ? (where-object) for filtering those that have more then 25 thread which are then sent to file via Tea cmdlet and to output.

OR
new -type file -name Foo.txt -value "Foo"
new -type Variable -name MyVar -value 4
new -type Function -name MyFunc -value { some code }
new -type Registry ....

Here, each command is implemented in different provider but they all conform to the same standard, so usage is the same, no matter if you want to make file or function or registry key.

Why cmd.exe CLI tools loose value ?
Becase its not in the PS spirit, although you will be able to use them in PS too the same way as in cmd.exe. The simple fact that they are not accepting objects as input and give objects as output makes them 2nd league comparing to pure PS cmdlets.

Its amazing tech. Everybody should know it. Crossplatfrom port is 40% finished.

Ah, thanks for the clarification both of you.

Thanks majkinetor. I've dabbled with PowerShell and found a wonderfull introduction PDF online (Where else?). After some searching, the PDF now seems to be bundled with some other stuff, it's a really good introduction:
http://blogs.technet.com/chitpro-de/archive/2008/02/28/free-windows-powershell-workbook-server-administration.aspx

I haven't used it for anything practical yet, nor have I ever thought of using it together with AHK, but I agree that it is a very powerfull and flexible tool.

Also, this guy should be everyone's hero: www.robvanderwoude.com . He has a section on PowerShell which is probably worth a look if you haven't already.

Useless.
