I had a simple script to download the contents of a URL to a fileusing UrlDownloadToFile.
The script worked fine for the 1st few days then just stopped working yesterday. The computer is online..
I tried the script on another computer and it works on the other computer.
So, my question is what possible problems with the 1st compter could cause the UrlDownloadToFile command to stop working? Or any suggestions on things to check?

| ehmm, maybe the file exists already, and the computer ignores to download a new one with the same name? |

| It's neither of those things.. VERY freaky. can't figure it out.. Any other suggestions? I was thinking about trying an xp system restore to bring the system back to when it worked.. but I'm a bit nervous about losing settings or data.. Any other ideas of things to check? |

Check if your Internet Explorer is set to "Work Offline" / "Offline Mode" / whatever it's called

+1. I had the exact same issue when 'offline'.

It has nothing to do with working off line.. I aasure you I am working online.
I thought it was a domain problem, here, http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45812&highlight=urldownloadtofile+working but NO
I sware, there is something up.
On 1 vista, does not work. (rebooted many times)
On 1 2003 servers, it does not work. (Have not rebooted in weeks)
On 4 others 2003 servers, it does work.
PM me and I will give you remote desktop access to try it for your self.
It must be an MS update or something.
BUT PLEASE find out quick... I have about 1000 clients that all take updates through URLDOWNLOADTOFILE..

Chris said it may be the phising filter because urldownloadtofile uses IE.
I turned it off on my 2003 server that it is not working on (I also test things on it) and I am playing with the plug ins now.. Still no luck but IE7 may be messed up from my "testing". 
But I was thinking... Most people here do not install IE8. But the Vista one has IE8.. Are you running IE8?
I got a bunch of things to do for work this morning but I will get back to this tonight and figure it out.

I do not think it matters what DLLCall, I have many scripts with many different DLLCalls, but hey, I got GIGS of log files of the same computer downloading chkconn.txt over and over  ... I have been trying to hunt this down for months.
I thought it was an IE7 issue. I finally got a hold of a computer that urldownloadtofile was not working on.
I delete code till it worked.
BTW, the one that it is not working on is IE7, Vista64bit.
I know 64 bit is bad, but I do not think it has ANY thing TO do WITH it.
I have about 100 clients doing a DOS on my server because of that stupid loop.
I do NOT have 100 Vista 64 bit clients.. This I am SURE of.
If Chris or someone I can trust wants remote access to my clients computer that the above script does not work on, let me know.
BTW, I am sure that the script will work on most of your computers.. (I just tested on two 2003 Servers and an WinXP and it worked fine) but please do not waist your time telling me you think its a firewall or something like that. I mean I apriciate your help, but I have been in the computer IT field for over 20 years.
The OS is clean, no malware, no firewall, nothing running in the background, no proxies, etc, etc...

Hmmm, I am rwalizing, now, that the url is getting downloaded, just not read right.
Well, maybe, I will go check.. But see, my poor server is getting HAMMERD! I just recently changed it to chkconn.txt from asp because there is no reason to start an ASP session.
I hope I can still update my cleints  because I put that code up front before checking if my clients have the latest version of my software.. (I had to make sure my server was up...)

No, it is not downloading the file. Darn I was hopeing it had to do with just reading and nothing to do with urldownloadtofile...
I am about to make a move of the computer with process list, IE settings and show how it does not work on that computer.. I know its hard to believe
