If you need a good free icon editor for your Ahk Scripts, Take a look at this
one. Once I got familiar with the program, I was able to create two
"Lettered" icons for the Menu Tray in about three minutes time. That's a
job that took me an hour or more with other icon editors.
Another thing to my liking is that there's no installation required by the
program. Just unZip it to your Hard Drive or USB Drive, and Launch it.
That makes it easy to evaluate; and there won't be any unseen traces
of it left behind if and when you remove it.

Thanks, Larry!
I've been using Paint for way too long. The Greenfinsh interface is similar to Paint, but it has many more features and is much easier to use.

Ah, another good one to add to my collection! I already have AWicons Lite and @icon sushi, and some others IIRC.
This one looks quite good, after a very brief test. I always appreciate the "no-install" download...
@aobrien, you are joking, right? You cannot make real icons with Paint. At best you can do small BMP files treated like icons by Windows, but that's a poor substitute (no transparency, no multiple sizes...). _________________

not joking ... I would create them with paint and then use IrfanView to create the .ico
I mostly, needed some way to distinguish between the different scripts running on different machines. Paint was (barely) adequate for that purpose. |

I personally use GIMP for all of my image editing/creating needs.
It's a VERY powerful image editor.
I personally think it's more powerful than paintshop,
if not, it atleast ranks right up there with it.
It's free too, and there's tons of free scripts, brushes, etc for it that you can find with a simple google search or deviantart.com search.
You can also find a portable version of it too.
I have both, one on my desktop, and one on my portable external harddrive I take with to my college classes. |
