| After reading the qucik-start tutorial scripting with AutoHotkey is easy. The manuals and documentation are pretty straight forward to follow and to understand. There is also the script showcase and the forum where new users can get quick answers and see examples of other people's scripts. I don't think a book would be necessary. |

I respectfully disagree.
KiXtart also has documentation, tutorials, etc...
I think the point of a AutoHokey book would be to show how to use AutoHotkey to solve many scripting problems.
The manual, documentation, tutorial, etc.. are primarily showing how to use the AutoHokey language itself. This is in contrast to documentation or a book that is dedicated to solving many business, network administration, or power user problems.
Also, this difference in the perspective and purpose of the book may prove to be as equally helpful to many new AutoHotkey users or even help popularize AutoHotkey. |

With creating a book I think adventually someone is going to want to put it on their shelf. I know I would. I personally dont like E-books(unless I plan on coping large portions of text for some reason or another, I can simply read in more places as well, in addition not having to toggle windows.) This would create a demand for printing the book, which involves much time and money. But getting this book in print would probly be a result of ahk becoming popular.
In order for ahk to become popular, or while it is becoming popular, the increase in users would also mean an increase in desired functionality. I would guess that many of the newcommers would be comming from other lang backgrounds, and would expect many of their functions to be included with ahk. Or just take the 'active-x' dll approach. With the increase of demands, Chris may need additional staff. Who pays these costs, or could we reley on dedicated volunteers? I know I would help. I dont think Chris could keep up with the demand(no offense). In the end I agree with Titan. _________________ my lame sig |
